So instead – howsabout posting the very last track you listened to (or indeed are listening to now) ?
Given the , shall we say, “varied” tastes on here I’d be amazed if we find any two of the same artists/band nevermind, miracles of miracles, the same song ?
Here’s mine…

I’m about 75% through a load of tracks I copied off my brother’s defunct hard drive. A very mixed bag.
Currently “Daydream In Blue” by I Monster, from “Classic Chillout Album”. It’s crap. Fortunately it’s followed by “Reasons To Be Cheerful” by Ian Dury & The Blockheads.
Dave Ross says
As I turned my iPod off before I got our of my car I was listening to “No Time For Tears” by The Enemy. It would feature well in a “Least Afterword Friendly Song” poll but I love it for all of the reasons that make it wrong

The perils of Random Play:
At a house party for my step daughters 21st, my computer was randomly playing some pre-set playlists when after the “Party Bangers” of Baby Got Back and Is This The Way To Amarillo, Terry Wogans (superior?) version of this popped up.

The last thing I was listening to was the album Ride The Black Wave by The Donkeys and the final track was Shines. Since I may well be the only person who’s ever mentioned the band on this site I doubt there will be a ditto moment.
Funnily enough I quite often hear the donkeys (2 of them) in the field a stone’s throw from here. I call them Kong & Hotey.

Listening to learn in order to perform it, alongside others, as part of my job. I love my job.

Last thing listened to (apart from dogs barking, conversation with Mrs D and something on the telly) was on radio on way home.

Twang says
I’m so moderne I don’t actually know but is the second track of the first Isotope album which I was listening to on Spotify, inspired by @colin_h ‘s thread on Doris Teabag.
I did listen to Jason Isbell’s Spotify session earlier though!
Peanuts Molloy says
@twang . . . it’s a shame you didn’t get to track 3 – “Oh Little Fat Man”.
Some wonderfully urgent guitar playing by Gary Boyle from around 2 minutes in, as he bursts into his solo at 2.20.
Love that album.

From Max Richter’s new album – Woolf Works – this epic slice of sombreness. Starts around the 44 min mark and begins with Gillian Anderson reading Virginia Woolf’s farewell note to her husband before committing suicide in 1941 before quietly slipping into 20 minutes of serene beauty. For sure, it has all of Richter’s familiar tropes – but I find it really affecting.

Fresh Garbage by Spirit. I was listening to The Psychedelic Years, which is a brilliant compilation from 1992 – always a favourite.
Moose the Mooche says
It’s also on the mighty Rock Machine Turns You On – as are a few other tracks from there. No harm done, a lot of that stuff wasn’t on CD in 1992.

I listened to a Blue Scholars album before the wife came in, grabbed the remote and took control of the living room. It was Bayani: Redux and the last track is called Dawn Song.
And, fan my brow, because I have had this album since 30 November 2016 (according to the date I added it to iTunes) and I clearly never paid much attention when I inputted into iTunes, as the last track featured a rapper called Shad. I had never heard of him, but I watched an excellent 4 part documentary last week on the first decade of hip hop music that he made and presented. It was excellent, so if you like hip hop seek it out. It’s called Hip Hop Evolution and he interviews nearly all the (alive) main players, like Kool Herc, Flash, Melle Mel, Bambaataa, DMC, Russell Simmons, etc. I found it by searching through music TV programmes on the Amazon Fire Stick. I understand a second series may follow, picking up the story around 1990.
But I digress. As I’d never heard of Shad I sought out his music a few days ago and it is really good. Mostly self-financed, but I’d hope one of the influential hip hop bods he featured on the show would help him out. Anyway, looking up the last track I listened to for this shows me that I, in fact, had heard of Shad before, because I typed his name into iTunes last November!

Given the squeeze has the band on a loop of their all available output, I’m still listening to Bears Den (see bloggers feedback). I even heard this track on R6 yesterday, meaning I am not the only household who have heard ’em. The jock called ’em emotive melody makers. Quite accurate, that.

I’m on a bit of a Laura Nyro kick at the moment, so the last thing I listened to was this wonderful version of Stoney End from the Hall of Fame induction introduced by Bette Midler
And what prompted this was hearing Laura’s version of Ooh Baby Baby recorded in 1994 and included on her final studio album, Angel in the Dark

This turned up on a mega-playlist by Caribou that I was listening to on YerTube.
