How come I’ve just receieved the June edition of Uncut magazine? It’s still April!
If they carry on at this rate they will have to publish 13 editions in a year.
That’s all.

Musings on the byways of popular culture
JustTim says
Damn! Noticed a misspelling as soon as I posted. Sorry!
hubert rawlinson says
Edith could have helped, however I do like the misspelling, not sure if it’s i before e or e before i after c why not combine the two into a happy effect.
JustTim says
Double checked and triple checked to ensure perfection. Spotted the error the second after it was too late. The story of my life!
Pajp says
It’s the saem for all of us!
Vulpes Vulpes says
Spaek for yourslef.
Uncle Wheaty says
Language Timothy!
Rigid Digit says
There’s one if those phrases that anyone under 40 (or probably 50) doesn’t get the provenance. The sitcom was rubbish, but it gave something to the English lexicon.
See also Allo Allo – a bit rubbish, but the phrases/ quotes live on
Sewer Robot says
Ooh “provenance” – Mr La Di Da Rigid Digit..
Rigid Digit says
And another, although I think it unlikely we will see a repeat run of It Ain’t Half Hot Mum any time soon
Chrisf says
I recall asking this question back in the old days of the Word magazine / blog. The response I get from Mr Hepworth was (if I remember correctly) that its all to do with shelf life in the newsagents – if a magazine comes out dated June, folks are less likely to buy one dated May (even if its a different magazine)
SteveT says
There is also a big market for these magazines in the USA/Canada and they are shipped out there by Ocean freight normally (Airfreight is too expensive).
Transit time door to door is around 3 weeks so you effectively lose best part of a month.
dai says
Yes they normally appear in the book stores here where they are sold around the cover date
Jaygee says
@chrisf
Never one to miss a trick. retro mag Classic Rock has apparently now started backdating its issues so June comes out dated February, etc
johnw says
There were 13 editions last year. The one between Dec 23 and Jan 24 (Take 320) was labelled “Review of The Year 2023”
retropath2 says
It would seem reasonable. Most readers get 13 pensions a year.
Boneshaker says
Arf!
dai says
And the American Beatles 65 album came out in 1964.
Jaygee says
@Dai
A – predictably – early example of the Fabs’ always being ahead of their time
retropath2 says
Tell that to Zager & Evan’s!
fitterstoke says
Arf’!
Tiggerlion says
Is the CAN disc worth having?
LesterTheNightfly says
It features a track from each of the live albums that have been released over the last year or so. Great cd!
SteveT says
@Tiggerlion Brilliant cd – track 4 from Paris 73 is worth the price of the mag on its own.
duco01 says
Re: Can
I have the Stuttgart 1975 and Paris 1973 releases. They’re both HUGE, of course.
I decided to skip the Brighton ’75 and Cuxhaven ’76 releases. They weren’t quite as warmly reviewed – particularly the Cuxhaven one, which is an abridged, one-disc version of the concert concerned, I believe.
Tiggerlion says
My god! It’s brilliant. I already have Stuttgart and Brighton. Somehow, I missed that Paris was out. It’s the best yet.
duco01 says
And, in more good news, there’s volume five of the series coming out in a mere 29 days’ time:
Can Live in Aston 1977 – released 31 May

Hurrah!
JustTim says
And this month, it’s the 23rd of May for the July edition – I haven’t finished reading Mojo yet!
Jaygee says
I finished reading Mojo in about 2003
Freddy Steady says
I never finish reading Mojo.
