I found 3 x beautiful German flexi-disc soundcard picture discs yesterday. Dating from the early 60’s they all feature German singers and actresses, including this one of Romy Schneider. I’d be interested to see any that others may have.

The Kessler Twins – Alice & Ellen
Vera Tschechowa – she died last month aged 83
A friend colourized them last night and now I think they look even more beautiful!
I don’t have any German ladies, but I do have a pig wearing shades carrying a ghetto-blaster:

that’s a picture disc though, these are made of cardboard
All the best people do!
Playable Polish Postcards
Some more of my flexi-disc soundcards, these ones which feature national costumes/folk music are also from the early 60’s and were made by Colorvox in Hungary.
I’ve dug up some more postcard / soundcard records, mostly European.
Released in 1973 to celebrate 500 years of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
An English greetings card featuring a previously unknown tune called Somebody Loves Me played by the pre Thunderbirds composer Barry Gray and his Quintet.
A pair of Italian Fonoscope cards.
Issued by BP in 1958 for European Touring Service, this one is for Holland.
This is a beautiful German one featuring the song Why Do The Stars Shine So Brightly Tonight? by Maria Pittrich.
I have a Psychedelic Furs single and you can play the cover. Also once saw a playable postage stamp.
yes I have that one too, it’s for Dumb Waiters. It’s thicker than a postcard disc to be honest but it is very cool and a great tune to boot!
I’ve been digging in The Kingdom of Fife (across the sea from me) for vinyl treasures in the past few weeks, I managed to turn up some unusual finds including acetates, weird Xian Folk and self help albums, along with a few nice new flexis for my collection including these two card backed beauties.
It’s always nice when I find ones I’ve not seen or heard of before and especially ones like this one sided card disc which features a song recorded for a toy doll by Paul Revere & The Raiders issued in 1968.
Also on a drink tip is this card backed disc promoting cognac, too strong for me I’m a red wine chap, hic.
Found this rare UK 78rpm Phonocard circa 1931 with a message from the Chairman of Raleigh Bikes today. The image on the card side was reproduced as a poster in the 40’s. This card measures 3.5″ x 5.5″. It cost me 30p!
A few years later Raleigh Bikes changed the image for this advertising poster, which I don’t have but found online.
I picked up an unusual 10″ white flexi today in a recycling depot, I’ve never seen one of these discs pressed on Rhodoïd before. It’s also known as guitard paper which is a plastic acetate often used for baking. Production started in 1928 but was halted in 1929 as a result of a government order restricting their sale due to the danger caused by the flammable nature of the celluloid content, this one dates from 1930 and is most definitely non-flammable!
