Let’s be honest – Amazon got where they are by being bloody good at what they do. Price matching, customer service available on the phone, easy no quibble returns, and so on. However, they have now got to the p […]

If we are restricting this to the last 30 odd years, then… The Jayhawks – Smile in particular. Seems they are a popular choice hearabouts. John Hiatt – continues to make great records. Alison Krauss – p […]

Happy to defend Wonderful Tonight, although I much prefer the live version on 24 Nights to the admittedly rather saccharine studio version. I love the underlying melody, and the storyline. Yeah, I’m a softy here a […]

Live at Leeds is one of the few albums that actually benefit from being expanded. The live version of Tommy is incredible.

Great call on Supidity, but I don’t think it is in mono (not currently able to check my copy though..!). I think only the first album is mono.

NigelT commented on the post, Tribute bands – thoughts 1 month ago
I should have mentioned Voodoo Room – a tribute to Hendrix, Cream and Clapton. A proper power trio, they are a great night out. They do the odd deep cut, like Third Rock from the Sun, as well as the obvious hits. […]

I get to see quite a few for nothing as I frequently interview members for my Gig Guide radio show, and they range from the dire to the excellent. Top of the range.. Think Floyd – utterly superb The Rozzers – […]

I have a soft spot for Mick Abrahams. I saw the soon-to-be-mighty Tull upstairs at the Red Lion in Leytonstone just as their first album came out and they were brilliantly different even then. I was disappointed […]

I clearly remember first hearing Stainsby Girls on the radio for the first time and it is one of my favourite songs, let alone a favourite of Chris’s catalogue. Great to hear others like it too!

Blimey….the blu-ray dropped through my letterbox today. I say this because I had totally forgotten that I’d ordered it….in September!!

I got caught today – got into my wife’s car and the radio came on when I turned the ignition on. Bleedin’ Sarah effin’ Cox was playing it. Last year I actually made it to Christmas without hearing the thing!

I always understood the milk goes in first for a cup of tea as it then warms more slowly as the tea goes in rather than heats quickly and sours (or whatever ) if put into hot tea. The opposite for coffee, for […]

I’m increasingly thinking that Farage won’t make it to the next election as leader. He is demonstrably uncomfortable with what has emerged from his schooldays (and I think I mentioned above that I coi […]

If I’d had to hazard a guess at artists appearing on this thread it would have taken me a long time to get to the lovely Shirl. Good on yer!

I remember stacking the EPs on the record player along with Hello Goodbye, in that way I got I Am The Walrus twice. The album always sounds ‘wrong’ to me because of the order of the tracks being different.

I wonder if that will be the time to release the MAL cleaned up Hamburg recordings. Red Hot is used in EP 1 and sounds terrific.

You mentioned Nebraska, and that was an album that didn’t really click for ages. I think it was because it followed three classics in Born to Run, Darkness and the River and was just so…well…different I suppo […]

Frankly, there is no mention of quite a lot of things, particularly around the break up and its ramifications. I haven’t watched EP8 yet, but I assume it is largely the same as the DVD version and is a bit a […]
