So Theresa May is delaying any decisive votes AGAIN, until practically the last minute, and it leads me, amid frustration and biting of knuckles, to think of suitable music.
Give Me Just A Little More Time
(Back)Stop in the Name of Gove
It’s Impossible
Making Your Mind Up
are just a few of the songs that came to mind.
You no doubt will have more. Also what strategies are you employing to keep calm during the political storm? Personally I am listening to an extremely soapy audiobook set in Chile, with all the depth of a puddle, but it goes on for 22 hours and is very soothing in its flowery predictable prose.

Someone read from a Can biography in the latest edition of the Afterword pod. Just saying.

I intend to listen to that podcast when I next have a bath.

Ooh! Now, when I’m listening, I’ll be imagining you all soaped up Tiggs! (*flushes*)
Pajp says
Billy Bragg’s Waiting For The Great Leap Forward or, depending on your point of view, a song not by Billy Bragg…. Waiting For The Great Leap Backwards.
davebigpicture says
Or Billy’s version of Which Side Are You On?
SteveT says
Or Billy’s song Between the wars
Sewer Robot says
“Then one day it happened.
She cut all her ties to the European Union and I stopped lovin’ ‘er…”
Pajp says
A Leaver (not Pajp) sings:
“Get your own free trade deal,
And cut out the middle man.”

State of preparedness; every morning I wake up believing that everyone knows how bad No Deal would be and it can’t possibly happen. The adults in the Labour Party will move St Jeremy to a second referendum / remain and reform platform, there will be a delay and a public vote on May’s deal. But then I open my work emails and by lunchtime I believe the two main parties are complicit in a form of deliberate neglect that will starve the poorest and most needy and make austerity look like Christmas.
But hey, thanks to our leaders’ other neglected responsibility it’s 20degC in February, so at least they’ll die warm.

Obvious, really. For (all?) our beloved in HMG:

Worry makes me physically ill. It raises my stress levels and causes high blood pressure, IBS etc.
I know I can’t change anything, so I just read about it and then get on with my life.

The song lyrics don’t fit with the situation but I’m sure we’ll all be dancing the Masochism Tango soon.

Although Theresa May is in Egypt today, her latest statement about being focused to leave on 29th and that a deal is “within our grasp” rather suggests she is actually with Dusty, In the Land of Make Believe.

It’s a good time to revive Roy Harper’s Referendum.
Originally dedicated to Harold Wilson at the time of the first European referendum, there are resonances today.

Two thing have always struck me about that album cover:
A) That’s not Scott’s first can of Dog, judging by the fact he has mysteriously taken his shirt off
b) Gary looks like Mike Dixon from Brookside.
