Billy Bremner played for Leeds.
Up front with Allan Clarke (of The Hollies) was Mick Jones, who appeared with Aztec Camera on this – Good Morning Britain
While still a Young One, Adrian Edmondson conceived and wrote Bad News. He even got bottles of p*ss hurled at him on stage at Castle Donninton 86 and Reading Rock 87.
He later formed The Bad Shepherds putting a folky spin on some punk and new wave toons
From one Taylor to another. Tyrone Taylor and Cottage In Negril. I’ve loved this ever since I first heard it on one of Andy Kershaw’s Radio 1 programmes in the mid-80s.
Andy Kershaw compiled a fascinating little album called ‘Great Moments In Vinyl History’ back in the day, and one of my favourite tracks was from Kathryn Tickell – a northumbrian pipe ace – who was originally due to play at St. Georges in Bristol last year, a gig poleaxed by the pandemic. Here she is giving the pipes a good work out on an early album:
Well I could happily spend all afternoon making connections to any number of Kathryn Tickell tracks, but instead I’ll pick up on Kate Young aka Kate in the Kettle, who is currently Kathryn’s fiddle player, but God can she strut her stuff in her own right.
Sorry, this takes us up a cul-de-sac in Sweden. I mean, who here is going to find us a connection there?
As an aside, what a great track. It’s easy to forget how good Stingo and the boys could be. The album does contain some alarming filler (the Copeland and Summers solo tracks). I remember the cassette had Murder By Numbers stuck on the end as a bonus track, easily the best song on the whole thing.

Connection: Counting Crows. This song features a splendid pedal steel solo by David Immergluck, who played on the original Crossing Muddy Waters.

Ah good one. The Crossing by Big Country -> Pete Townsend, Rough Boys. Amazingly, the same rhythm section.

Connection – Tony Butler played on this => Pretenders – Back On The Chain Gang

Billy Bremner from Rockpile played on that one. Here they are doing an unreleased Squeeze tune… https://youtu.be/STdF2VhSTUk

The title of that Bad Shepherds album, Yan, Tyan, Tethera, Methera, is ancient Cumbrian for the count in to this:

Covered by Girlschool in 1989. Only a minor hit, but 8 years earlier they were in the Top 10.

Song posted only for the purposes of the connection. No admission made arising from the title!

A cracking tune, though. It was in one of the Austin Powers fillums.

One of the best songs ever, I think.

Slightly more acoustic, no electric prunes here, have some Clockwork Orange.
Pajp says
This is not clockwork, but it is Like Clockwork (almost Partridge-esque, even though I say so myself)
Edit: alternatively, try it in a Jeremy Clarkson voice
