The Hammond on Tarkus is extraordinary, I’m a bit obsessed with it at the moment. I tend to prefer more soulful stuff on the instrument, but there’s something about this. It’s even got me wanting to learn it somehow.

This is where someone usually reminds us to put videos in replies/comments, and not in the main post, isn’t it..?

If he dies from eating too many Big Macs, does that mean that Ronald McDonald will get nuked?

It’s good to see this piece belatedly getting recognition. I get all kinds of weird emotions from it, definitely not a minor work.

DJ Shadow used spoken word really effectively, and yes I know his music is entirely made from samples. I love his use of an interview with a drummer (can’t remember his name) as sort of lyric interludes on B […]

I find myself once again in agreement with DD. The Byrds outtakes are better than most bands A-sides. I don’t know of any other reissue series that delivered the goods like this.

Same for me, and same format and same time. It’s a perfect album.

It was indeed a great show, full of good ideas and genuinely terrifying at times. The low budget and some wooden acting notwithstanding, it’s still worth watching if you want a bit of nostalgia and fun.

Much fun to be had in old episodes of The Tomorrow People – Mike plays a dangerous rhythm in The Heart of Soggoth. I wish him a speedy recovery without irony. He’s a talented trouper.

Elsewhere people probably ask where all the protest songs, the political songs etc have gone. To me he’s more a Billy Bragg than a Bruce, he’s eloquent and direct and taking it to the masses. This guy is who we need.

I agree with you. I think it’s great that he’s encouraging young men to face their feelings head on. Plus in his own accent. I love him.

I like how Norman Blake seems to have embraced being older as he’s gone along. His songs always seem to represent who he is at the time he writes them; I found the last couple of Teenage Fanclub albums really […]

…just to say, taking the piss out of bald people is quite funny on this forum. Like that guy who calls us all ‘dodgers’. Well, yeah.

Somehow these threads end up in the holy wars of ‘my favourite band wasn’t as good after X left and I’m still angry about it.’ Usually ‘that’ quote about Genesis comes up, too. Therefore… If you ever wonder […]

He’s someone who tries very hard. You can imagine him queuing in the toy shop in Bridport for some rare Ramones Lego figures to arrive, even though there’s nobody else in the queue. Then he pops over the road to […]

What better way to present an acoustic album, than with a picture of Phil rocking out in full Live and Dangerous mode.
