If you play Gin Blossoms to any Irish music fan, they’ll assume it’s a Something Happens song they haven’t heard. Tom Dunne the singer has told the tale on his excellent radio show of how the Happens were supported on a US tour by the fledgling Gin Blossoms who transformed their sound soon afterwards and the hits rolled in…
Interesting. Can understand why Something Happens might be pissed off but to be fair it’s not as if they’d patented some new genre of pop perfection. Even if they had though – rock history is replete with one artist hitting upon something and others developing and refining it.
