There was an ‘Evening with…’ Vic Godard sort of thing recently in Brighton, and frankly I’d have tossed my hat to the rafters if VG had vanished, or better still, never appeared.

It’s The Guardian, and it’s what they (increasingly) do. I’ve a hunch that a good many of those who’ve subscribed to the paper have done so because they don’t want to lose such a fine source of righteous student nonsense.

Bloody hell, Stewpot really didn’t like kids, did he? Insert joke ending ‘apart from his future wife’

I’m assuming that the two gents who claim that they actually wrote the songs are Dirk and Stig.

Alanis Morrisette is no doubt reaching for her pen, given that AA Gill’s very own messy divorce was from Amber Rudd.

And then, from around the same time, there was The Jim Rose circus. The bar at the venue where I saw them didn’t sell a single pint of beer after the show, I suspect.

First band I ever saw live (1979, Dunelm House in Durham), and usually I’d be seeing them next month in Brighton, at Concorde 2, except they’re not playing here this year. May have to go up London. In recent years […]

Diva really does seem to have vanished from lists/appraisals etc. I love(d) it, and remember getting riled when Alex Cox, maker of some true stinkers, introduced it on his Videodrome slot with utter scorn. That in […]
