And in detective shows any artisan, a watchmaker say, or a cobbler, must under no circumstances stop what they are doing to give their full attention to the detective asking them for information. They must carry […]

When a non-TV person is interviewed by a TV person they lose the ability to say the word ‘Yes’ and must reply ‘Absolutely!’ instead. As so often I’m watching Bargain Hunt after my lunch time walk and the curators […]

That would be Aubade. I don’t know if it was his last poem as it was published several years before he died, but he was conscious that his muse had left him and wrote very little in his later years.

‘Choose whichever option makes most money’, says Gene Simmons. It certainly works for for him, even if it shows a lack of understanding of others’ motivations.

That was my childhood fantasy too, that couple as parents who would adore and coddle me in the manner to which I felt entitled.

Force of habit from LK one suspects. I’d love to see Johnson try his bluster and misdirection routine on Andrew Neil, so much so I would even voluntarily tune in to watch Johnson for once.

Are you sure about the rivers? Russell Brand seems to think it’s done the trick for him. Mind you, do you want to spend the end of days in the company of Russell Brand and Jordan Peterson?

A funny Oor Wullie line, though I can’t find it online with a brief search. Wullie wants to try his new toy boat, but the park pond has been drained, his father is having a bath, he is turned away from the s […]

I can’t help but feel the latest sniggering attacks stem from ‘What else rhymes with Keir?’ We’ve had beer, two-tier and so on. It’s all a bit ‘Welease Wodewick!’ from the right wing tabloids. None of i […]

When I had a huge clear out the local Oxfam wouldn’t take cover mount CDs with the rest of my junk. I had hundreds, and had to recycle what I could and ditch the discs.

I was an avid reader of comics, first The Beano (or The Dandy if I must, but I never liked the characters as much). After that Topper and Beezer were mid-week treats (though of course I would read my older […]

In a previous career I had a monthly slot on BBC Essex to talk about books. I would take in a list of the local top 10 bestsellers for the previous month and a few notes about new books we wanted to plug (or some […]

I’ve never been a fan of the big Sunday lunch, or Sundays in general come to that. After a lie in I made some pancakes to have with coffee, pootled around the net, went for a walk just to get out of the house, a […]
