After a couple of fallow years, there are a few things I’m interested in this year, the main one being the Talking Heads live album, of which I have a bootleg LP.
Do I really need a half-speed mastered Tilt, though?

Those BDP tracks have never been on a 7″ before, in fact I’m not sure there’s ever been such a thing as a BDP 7″. Why? No-one wanted one. It was hardly going to get on The Chart Show and Going Live. The media of hip hop in those days was 12″s and LPs. A typically fatuous RSD release.
Sewer Robot says
Er… I have a 7”inch of My Philosophy/Stop The Violence (same cover as the album). Could be radio promo, although it doesn’t say so..
Moose the Mooche says
Well I’ll be! Same cover as the album? 12″ had a completely different cover, with KRS pointing a pen at the camera.
Got to wonder at them pressing a 7″ though, possibly an effort to get it on the jukeboxes at Butlins…
Perhaps they think very deeply….
Sewer Robot says
Aggghhh! “7”inch” – my wife’ll kill me for that tautology.
Checked and you’re right: the front cover is the pen photo, but I guess I always filed it backwards with the LP image as the front..
Moose the Mooche says
Stay calm, there’s no need to be alarmed….

A few of the releases are interesting to me, particularly the Prefab Sprout 12″ Even though I already own 2 copies, it’s inclusion may indicate a changing attitude to older stuff on Paddy’s part.
“Do I really need a half-speed mastered Tilt, though?” Yes!

“Do I really need a half-speed mastered Tilt, though?” No! I suspect that no-one does…
Moose the Mooche says
Does it mean that someone has listened to The Cockfighter at the equivalent of 16RPM? Doesn’t bear thinking about.

Farmer in the City is one of my favourite tracks of all time. The original vinyl sounds great though so I doubt I will upgrade.
fitterstoke says
Precisely – the original sounds great, very much diminishing (and expensive) returns with the RSD version…I suspect….

Wilco box set for me. They seem to be doing them in the wrong order though as A Ghost is Born should be next.
Tiggerlion says
I’d buy the live AWB and Talking Heads if I had a record player.

The whole Heads catalogue is going to be reissued as expanded/deluxe editions, according to the article in Uncut/Mojo. So I guess the Agora recording will be part of a ’77 SDE.
The Brick box was nearly 20 years ago, issued on DualDisc (CD on one side, DVD-A on the other) with each limited to about 60 minutes run time. They said at the time that there was plenty more in the can. I guess we’re finally going to get to hear it.
What with 4K SMS and that, 2024 is going to be expensive for me.
dai says
They also released them as separate CD/DVD discs in double packs. I have 3 or 4. The surround sound is excellent, low on bonus tracks though
fentonsteve says
Yes they did. which sold through Fopp for about 3 quid each. Much to my annoyance, as I’d paid a colleague a small fortune to smuggle a Brick box back from a business trip to California.
Twang says
I’ve already got the live AWB and have a record player. Two, actually.

I was a “Production Associate” for the Gene Clark Lost Studio Sessions when that first came out. Hopefully I am still credited on the sleeve!
fitterstoke says
Good gracious! Fame, indeed!
BryanD says
I don’t like to boast, well obviously I do, but I was an executive producer on Lloyd Cole’s Standards album.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
“Hoi, Production Associate! We’ve run out of doobies! Bloody hell, does he understand English? What’s that you say? Oh, Welsh – that explains a lot …”
Colin H says
I’m excited about the Anne Briggs 1971 LP reissue with a 4-song EP of unreleased songs from the session – one of which is on the current Uncut cover disc, and it’s fabulous.
Twang says
Does sound really good.
BryanD says
Ian Hunter Defiance Pt2 is on there which is great news. I knew it was finished and ready to go but didn’t know when. Out on the 20th April.
Lando Cakes says
I’m intrigued by the EBTG one. Wonder what era it’s from?
fentonsteve says
It’s a BBC session they did for the most recent album. It came out as a digital EP a few months ago.
Lando Cakes says
Righto – thanks!
fentonsteve says
Strictly speaking, three tracks from the latest album and ‘Single’ from Walking Wounded. How can that ‘late-period’ EBTG album be 28 years old already?

I’m looking for something Afterword friendly on bile coloured vinyl. Folky Americana with a slight odour of weariness.
Moose the Mooche says
White vinyl, surely…
Mike_H says
Scratch and sniff.
Mixture of sweat-stained hatband, chevy exhaust and gunshot residue.

Ooof! Funny @allium-sativum

Can usually find something of interest (and hopefully has one left at the shop) – this time: The Ramones 1975 Demos.
Considered the Filth and Fury Soundtrack, but only if it is a half-speed master just for the extra clarity of sound with Bay City Rollers Shang-a-lang
And from the “do I need another copy?” list: X-Ray Spex – Germ Free Adolescents
But … will probably (as is usual) get to the shop too late and find nowt of any interest left
(just the Steps Picture Disc)
eddie g says
Cannonball Adderley, Ian Hunter, the Doors box, the Bowie box, the Stones debut, Dr John…all on my list to Spillers Records today.
eddie g says
Er…before you panic…the Bowie thing is just an album apparently…not a box. Still on my list though…
Mike_H says
Some there to look out for when they appear streaming on Amazon Music.
fentonsteve says
And/or, if on Demon Records (Suede, Kirsty MacColl, etc), on unlimited black vinyl at half the RSD price, six months later.
