Another ‘first seven’ disciple here. Terrific run of imaginative albums. When I got rid of all the plastic cases on my CDs a year or two back, those 7 remastered editions were kept in their original cases just so I could see them clearly on my shelf. Thanks for the music Mike, and sincere condolences to his family and friends. Face piles of trials with smiles.
They made some terrific music over the years, and I would put some of their later songs (the likes of Gemini Dream, I Know You’re Out There Somewhere, etc.) up against some of those on the first seven.
Saw them live a few years back. Ferociously and unexpectedly loud and rocking like mad. A great show.
Aah such a wonderful band. I hope he was living in a happy world these last few years.
Those first seven* albums – the Core Seven as Hoffmanites call them – still get played regularly here. Bloody lovely music.
(*disregarding Mike Thep’s favourite with Denny Laine, of course.)
Saved me the trouble, thanks.
Brian Hines was only ever any good in The Diplomats.
H me was my best mates uncle but we never got any freebies. Excellent until Just a singer in a rock and roll band.
Rest easy.

RIP Mike, and thanks for the music.
