Oops. When I said that I don’t remember any ‘rock’ star talking about his or her favourite band…I meant ‘rugby’ star of course. That’s the trouble when your thumbs are too big for your phone…

Never heard of them I’m afraid. But then they’ve probably never heard of me either.

I find it quite strange that rugby union doesn’t have a rock soundtrack- you don’t hear the, ahem, ‘crowds’ singing Beatles songs or others adapted from the rock canon and I can’t remember any rock star talking […]

Sounds exactly like every other Van Morrison album of the past ten/twenty years.

Like all North American sports, this game is of no interest to me in itself but, in political context, I’m happy to see Canada rub its haughty neighbour’s nose in it.

Not strictly ‘on subject’ here but I remember Freddie Garrity once appearing in his later years as a guest on a rather dreadful afternoon antique show. He was talking about his collection of Freddie and the […]

I usually never bother with gigs as I much prefer listening to the records and this preference was reinforced on me when I dragged myself out to see Nick Lowe a few years ago with this same band and set up. The […]

Humour is very subjective. I never found Tommy Cooper remotely funny. If anything he was annoying. “Just do the f***g trick and go!” I could never figure out exactly what Ray Cooper actually did/does. Seems to […]

I’ve since discovered that it only tells the story up to 1970 (I guess the clue was there all along in the title really for the more observant amongst us!). When reading biographies I tend to skip the childhood […]

Fair nuff I suppose. I saw them once back in 1990 and that was enough for me. They were good but, overwhelmingly, I much prefer records to gigs and although I’m glad I saw them, I can’t say that I’d be interested […]

I wish them well but, surely, everyone who wanted to see them live has done so by now?

Bowie owned the seventies but, lovely and interesting as he remained, he lost me after Scary Monsters and never again reached the heights of Aladdin Sane or Low. But then neither did anyone else.

Cob was local to me as a kid and bought a few things from there but, popping in recently I have say that their ‘everything in three big rows’ stacking system makes ‘digging’ a bit tricky. Also, their pricing […]

Not my favourite Bowie album by a fair distance. I like the title track but the rest of it is, by his standards (or, actually by anybody’s) distinctly meh.
