That I for one will not consider this place to truly be home until….
FauxGeordie has posted a political rant that ends “they hate you and want to destroy you”.
Moose has dropped a double entendre.
Someone has TMFTLd.
I have personally crammed an unwarranted Limp Bizkit reference into a perfectly innocuous thread.
There has been at least one naval gazing thread about where it’s all going and whether it’s as good as it used to be.
Please feel free to add your own….
Love and peace to all of ya!
So, Steven Wilson is apparently the best thing in modern British Prog. For whatever reason his previous work has totally passed me by. Anyone have any thoughts or recommendactions regarding Mr W?
Just wanted to share this, and see if I can post. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/02/17/ukip-trumpton-video_n_6698858.html?utm_hp_ref=tw

About 6-8 weeks ago I read news of a new Joe Henry produced Bill Fay album to be released in February. All of a sudden all brews of it has disappeared which is a little disappointing. I have googled about it and about Bill but can’t see anything at all. Odd. Anyone shine any light?
In an interesting sojourn to that Zuckerberg’s place, we all got a little bit more exposure than we might have planned.
I learned that Moose’s real life name *is* Moose the Mooch, but Minibreakfast is really called Mini Dinner.
What did you learn?
Before I review this book I shall declare an interest. I knew Paolo Hewitt back in the 70’s, not long after he had left Burbank Children’s Home, the setting for this book. He had come to Guildford to meet up with his friend, and by then, my friend, Des. Des has now been my friend for 40 years. I am as close to him as any of my 4 brothers. We have been through good times, bad times and times that were as low, as desperate and as troubled as it gets. So, I am biased. Des is one of the subjects of the book.
I bought the book as soon as it came out. I’ve followed Paolo’s career as a talented writer and Des had been involved in some of the research for this one, so I knew it was coming out. I put it on the top of my book-pile, and left it. And left it. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to start it, wasn’t sure if it would make me feel sorry for my friend. We’re way past that. I know his story, have lived some of it with him. I didn’t think want the book » Continue Reading.
So what did you do when the house burnt down? Faecebook was not for me, I fear, despite Kaidfatdads best efforts, but Twitter wasn’t enough, so I started my own blogsite and joined another collective music MP3 blog, which publishes regularly. Trumpet blowing? Nah, just thanking Word/Afterword for freeing the hidden scribbler in me. Bet I wasn’t alone. Anyone else? Has Niall finished his book yet?

Child of Vision is the greatest thing Supertramp ever recorded.
They are what The Beatles would have developed into…or is that ELO?
Just testing to see if I can post something?
Now, thanks for all the work getting this up (said the bishop to the actress), but:
how come my username has changed to the one over there (rigid-digit) when I registerd an logged in as Rigid Digit.
I don’t know, I’m really confused
My last post just before the cataclysm was a paean of praise for Frazey Ford’s Indian Ocean. However many weeks on it is (how long is it in fact – seems like forever?) it’s still getting regular plays in the BB household. So too Sharon van Etten, Hooray the Riff Raff, Thompson St Vincent and the Rebekka Karijord record. What else from last year has lasted the pace through to February?

It’s all bollocks but it’s our bollocks and I for one am delighted we are all back together again. The admin people have my gratitude not least because I don’t have to sit with my wife while she is watching Holby and asking her ‘what is this shit?’. Had I have known today was the day I would have celebrated with a Fray Bentos pie. What joy.
Author:Roger Lewis
In which the erudite Lewis rails against the world in the most politically incorrect manner possible. Living in the “Herefordshire Balkans”, Dr Lewis uses this faux diary to settles scores with various members of the sophisticated literary London clique who won’t let him Join the Royal Lit Soc, puts the boot in to The Mail for not paying him enough for his reviews, reveals a myriad sexist insights such as Nigella Lawson’s best book would be on blow-jobs, reminds everyone he had a scholarship to a posh Oxford College, and once in while drops in a piece of lyrical critical writing peppered with original insights on some “low-brow” subject like the tragic life of Charles Hawtree or how brilliantly Jo Brand and Jo Scanlon’s Getting On portrays a slab of real life. It is basically Clarkson with a PhD.
I reckon Roger Lewis is as real as Keith Lemon. No man as curmudgeon and reactionary as the Lewis in the book, would ask hippy dippy radical Mark Rylance to be his son’s Godfather or let the same son run away to the circus with his father’s blessing.
Whether he is a real life reactionary misanthrope or not, there » Continue Reading.
My lovely wife Carol was away last week visiting her folks down on that there Wirral.
As I am still out of work, it was the ideal time to finally nail the Sopranos box set my Daughter gave to me a couple of years ago.
Blimey its good. James Gandolfini (sadly missed) was a huge, massive principal character backed up by a wonderful supporting cast.
Far too many storylines to discuss here, but I particularly enjoyed a relatively early episode when his “friend” (a gambling addict), got into deep sh*t at one of his card schools. But that was just one of many, & IMHO, I dont think I saw a single duff episode. Best TV series ever for me.
So, so full of mafia comings & goings, on saturday I watched Goodfellas yet again, followed by The Godfather (Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes). I have seen both of these films about a thousand times, but still thoroughly enjoyed them.
So, can anyone suggest other films/ TV of this type & quality? Any/ all suggestions gratefully recieved.
Many thanks in advance & over to you.
An interesting start IMHO with England being truly awful and Ireland pulling off a not completely unexpected victory over the West Indies.
High scores seem to be par for the course on these pitches and anything below 300+ is unlikely to get you a victory (the Scotland/New Zealand game being the exception so far).
Any thoughts on other potential upsets to come?
We don’t have the chance to preview posts at the moment. That was useful for checking that links and formatting had worked as planned (and to think again before making a regrettable post.)
Anything else not quite as before that we’d like to mither Admin about (somewhat ungraciously given the overriding euphoria at having the blog back)?

Colin H on Quintessence
I see a yawning chasm marked ‘Features’ that needs to be populated. Here’s a piece I wrote on Quintessence which appeared last year in ‘Record Collector’…
Quintessence
Some bands struggle for years for attention, but not Quintessence. Within weeks of forming, in April 1969, they were a word of mouth sensation. Chris Blackwell and Muff Winwood of Island Records dropped into a rehearsal with a chequebook and an artistic-freedom guarantee. Sorted. Quintessence were huge on the European live scene for three years and, in retrospect, were the last great hurrah of ‘the sixties’. By mid 1972, after four albums and two singles, the original six members had split in two – recording one more album each, as Quintessence and Kala respectively, before all involved slipped into obscurity as swiftly as they had appeared.
Quintessence, like Hawkwind, Marc Bolan and the Third Ear Band, were a product of London’s Ladbroke Grove scene, but few were locals.
Ron ‘Raja Ram’ Rothfield, an Australian conservatoire and jazz trained flautist, had met American bassist Richard ‘Shambhu Babaji’ Vaughan in Greece, both moving to London in 1968. Phil ‘Shiva’ Jones, also Australian, had recorded downunder as Phil Jones & » Continue Reading.
