Just wondering if anyone has bought the big UNCUT binders to keep their issues in. If so, did you manage to get 12 issues in one binder. I have managed 9 but that is as far as I got and that was fiddly. Great idea but they need to be fit for the job. Cheers – Joe
Another book review – I Lie In Wait
The idea and plot behind this book is really good but sadly I did not like the formatting. The story is told over 3 timelines (1 year ago, the present and now) and I found it difficult as it kept switching between each timeline.
I really struggled with the first third of the book and then it was like someone else was writing the story and it did get more interesting.from that point. Amanda Brittany is clearly an experienced and clever author but this book, sadly, did not connect me very well with the characters and settings.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an early review copy of this book to read on the Kindle. Also thanks to the publishers and author for the work that they do.
This book is published on the 28th August in paperback and on the Kindle.

I really enjoyed it and looking forward to the new album, Swoosh, coming out on the 7th August.

Psychological Thrillers
Hello all,
Not been on this site for a long while for many reasons. Just wondering if anyone had recommendations for psychological thrillers.
I have just read A Predator And A Psychopath by Jay Kerk and have pasted in my review below:
This book scared me. This book shocked me. This book made me angry. This.book was very adult material. But what a book this was. Never read anything like this before. This is the first book I have read by Jay Meek but I will definitely be looking out for more. Beware: Having read this book you will always ‘remember it.

Songwriters, are you up for a challenge???
Songwriters, are you up for a challenge???
Just been reading on Kenny Foster’s blog about how he would go into his local radio station and write a song in 10 minutes on a current news story.
I am happy to give you more than 10 minutes, get a song to me by Wednesday and I will play any blues or country tunes on my radio shows.
Week 1 – What shall we have as a current topic – totally random – plastic bottles and how they are polluting the environment.
Send your entries to bigbluesbonanza@gmail.com or redrosecountryuk@gmail.com

Just heard the news that the radio legend Barry has passed away. He has fought a hard battle with cancer of late and at least now he is pain free.

New idea for a radio show – feedback and comments appreciated
Hi all,
It’s been quite a while since I used this site but hope to get back in to it now.
I am looking for some feedback, comments, etc on an idea I have had for a radio show. Below is the initial post I wrote about my idea on Facebook and there is also a link to the pilot show on Mixcloud. I would love to hear what you think
HELP, SUPPORT & ADVICE NEEDED Please bear with me as this could be a long message. I already make 2 radio shows (Blues and Country) each week but have come up with another idea for a project to start in 2017 and need your help, support and advice to get it off the ground. The inspiration for this new show has come from 3 sources: 1 – Listening to Bruce Springsteen on Desert Island Discs and hearing how music had helped shape him and helped him to deal with mental illness 2 – My Mother-in-law, Enid, is in her 90’s and is getting more and more confused and possibly has the onset of Alzheimers and I was wondering if listening to music she heard and liked through her life » Continue Reading.

ATM Can you help produce a jingle or logo
Hello all,
You have probably seen me posting my Mixcloud mixes on here but the picture I am using is quite boring so was wondering if anyone would be interested in creating me a logo – unfortunately finances are not readily available but I can add your name or website link to any mixes I send out. Also wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a jingle – Joe’s Musical Miscellany is a bit of a mouthful but perhaps some of you will find it a good challenge, again I would make sure to link to your website, etc.
Any takers?
Cheers – Joe
Joe’s Musical Miscellany #4 – Listening Post #2

The Vernons Girls
I had never heard of The Vernon Girls until yesterday when they were on the radio. Sounds like there is a great story in there, they started out as a 15 strong choir for the pools company and over the years were reduced to 3 singers.
I know there have been lots of schools, football clubs, etc that have had chart hits but cannot think of any other companies. If you can think of any – I am sure there must be others – please post them here
Joe’s Musical Miscellany #2 – Drinking Wine
This started out on being a 1 hour mix but I got a bit carried away and it ended up at 2.5 hours. I am sure you can all think of lots more wine drinking songs and feel free to add these in the comments. I tried to get in a variety of genres so hope that works well. Afterworders, I am sure you cannot resist – feel free to add Youtube links etc to any additions on here
Apologies for the duplicate song but hopefully will not spoil things too much. I hope you enjoy listening. Please share and leave comments
My first mix on Mixcloud

New Musical Discoveries #4 – The Dreaming Spires
I first heard The Dreaming Spires listening to the House Of Mercy radio show https://www.houseofmercy.tv/HOMstore.php and have since heard them on Bob Harris’s Radio 2 Sunday show.
Bio info from their own website http://www.thedreamingspires.co.uk/ :
The band is led by singing brothers Robin and Joe Bennett, who also handle most instrumental duties. Known to some as “the Notorious Bennett Brothers”, Robin and Joe have carved out some renown as accomplished musicians as well as being co-founders of acclaimed festivals – Wood & Truck, a label and even a record store.
The Dreaming Spires have been lucky enough to have 3 great drummers: Jamie Dawson plays drums and percussion on the new album, and Mike Monaghan and Loz Colbert played on Brothers in Brooklyn. Nick “Growler” Fowler (also of Gaz Coombes’ band) contributes guitar to many tracks and occasionally plays live with the band.
The brothers’ musical pedigree includes stints in Goldrush and Danny & the Champs, touring and recording with Mark Gardener of Ride, and collaborations with everyone from Gary Louris to Garth Hudson of The Band, Mercury Rev to Saint Etienne (the brothers are members of the present live incarnation of Saint Etienne). Joe also plays with fellow travellers » Continue Reading.
