This year’s RSD list has just been published. As usual, it seems to be a mix of “looks interesting” and “why the f*** are they releasing THAT?!?!?” (I’m looking at you, Bohemian Rhapsody single and Ace Frehley picture disc)

Oo yes – plenty there to keep ebay going for a while.
I have the original pressing of that Mickey Mouse Disco album, so not going for that one.
The Get Carter Soundtrack will (hopefully) be mine, and surely no-one but me will be looking for the John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett release.
Not sure I need The Coneheads soundtrack or a collection of Mumford & Sons demos though.

“Not sure I need […] a collection of Mumford & Sons demos…”
Does anybody?

I’ve been following Paul Sinclair’s Superdeluxeedition website, and keeping an eye on the Cherry Red catalogue long enough to know the answer to that question is when it comes to recorded music with enough of a profile – there’s at least 100 people will buy any old shite you can think of.

Is that the first proper release of Bingo Hand Job?
Does that mean the copies I’ve seen for sale (but do not own – honest) are bootlegs?

“First proper release of Bingo Hand Job”
hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I suspect so. I’m not tempted to upgrade my ancient vinyl, I have to say.
Rigid Digit says
Do I need a copy of the we-welease of Life Of Brian on picture disc?
Probably not, but if I see one I’ll have it.

Others hoped for:
Ronnie Lane And The Band Slim Chance – At The BBC
Motorhead – Overkill / Bomber
Motorhead – Rockaway Beach
I just wish the Toyah album (In The Court Of The Crimson Queen) was her take on her husbands work with Mr Fripp providing guitar support.
Sadly not

A new Jeff Tweedy album? Nice.

“Warm” came out end of last year, now “Warmer”? A remix? Outtakes?
Alternative Astral Weeks looks interesting, but only a 10″ release?
dai says
Apparently a new 10 track album. This guy is incredible!
ruff-diamond says
Only 4 tracks on the Van Morrison, with “the possibility” of a couple more
dai says
They are not sure yet?

The Peter Gabriel one looks interesting – a collection of some of his movie tracks, some of which are released for the first time. I’m hoping this is not only on vinyl for RSD and will get a more general release later……
Baron Harkonnen says
I don’t normally bother with RSD but I’m in for Zimmie’s Blood On The Tracks and Ronnie Lane’s Live At The BBC.

My diary for April was looking pretty sparse but I’ve now added “rsd … avoid like the plague” to the entry for Saturday 13th.
SteveT says
My wish list is the new Jeff Tweedy, Curse of Lono and Fela Kuti.

I’ll be more than happy to queue up for-
Ronnie Lane
Pink Floyd
Tiny Tim
Todd box
Yes debut
‘The Psychedelic Scene’
…and then listen to them all at least once.

A lovely way to present the fodder from something that usually passes me by, seeing all that artwork, old and forgotten, familiar and brand new. (The bugger is I saw one I would really like, GP Squeezing Out Sparks solo and acoustic.)
And Crispy Ambulance are a joke? Aren’t they?
duco01 says
Hmmm … yes …. that Graham Parker ‘Squeezing Out Sparks solo and acoustic’ might be quite interesting …
Bargepole says
The Tull ep has a couple of tracks from the upcoming SW 40th anniversary version of Stormwatch.
Vulpes Vulpes says
Only one that I might be interested in acquiring*, but the process of doing so would be excruciatingly dull, so I’ll pass.
*Airto – Natural Feelings
The Good Doctor says
They’ve got this off to a fine art now.
The Queen stuff will fly – don’t forget the fact that the movie has done so well and has got a whole new generation into them.
The ones that really fly aren’t always predicted well. I’m glad I got the Wire 7″ singles box set last year as those didn’t hang about. On the flipside I went in a shop last week which still had several of the 2018 Bowie things…
There are a few bits I’m interested in – A.R Kane, Bark Psychosis, Durutti Column but all of these I’d be fairly confident of rocking up to Piccadilly Records mid afternoon when the queues have died down –
What really bugs me is the grubby cunts trying to make a few quid off the legacy of The Fall and Spacemen 3 are in evidence yet again and it’s galling that RSD seem to have no backbone to tackle the shittier end of things and are happy to put their name to a load of releases that are no better than bootlegs and certainly won’t benefit the artists – suspect there are more that fall into this category but those are the artists I’m aware signed shitty deals that mean their stuff gets chucked out on coloured vinyl at random on RSD. So that’s EIGHT things by The Fall? Nay quality control.
Tiggerlion says
I’m not in the country on 13th April but I’d rather like the picture disc of Pin Ups to, er, pin up on my wall. If anyone can acquire a copy for me, I’d be grateful.
