Richard Thompson was in the bowling attack? No wonder Sir Geoffrey scored 191. I can hardly imagine the beret-wearing master guitarist being able to make one nip back off the seam.

Rockhampton, Queensland …. hmmm …. I’ve heard of that town, as one of my great musical heroes was from there: Grant McLennan (1958-2006).

I like Hamilton watches, too.
And of course Elvis Presley famously wore the strangely triangular Hamilton Ventura, as seen in this photo:One can buy it now with either an automatic or a quartz movement.

1. Lovely post, Podicle. Superb.
2. Tudor is a sister brand to Rolex, isn’t it? Out of interest, what’s the movement in your watch – is it an ETA or one of Rolex’s own movements, or … something else? -

Have nearly finished the novella “Passing” (1929) by Nelly Larsen, a writer of the Harlem Renaissance.
Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in early 20th century African-American literature. -

B.S. Johnson’s famous ‘book in a box’, “The Unfortunates”, is a brilliant concept and one of my favourite novels ever. Read it all costs!

Nick Kent was an excellent rock journalist.
As a novelist? I dunno. We’ll see.
Also, I’ve always been a big fan of Kent’s old NME comrade in arms, Charles Shaar Murray. I’ve read some of his rock books, but […] -

Pete de Freitas of the Bunnymen certainly wasn’t a Scouser. He was from somewhere in Oxforshire, I think. Great drummer, of course.
