Just for the hell of it and having a slow day here, I analyzed first 8 days of the year until now, possibly one of the quietest times of the year to see how busy it is and how frequently people post. See comments *

Musings on the byways of popular culture
There were 19 new topics to discuss, posted by 16 people. All posted 1 only except for Black Celebration, Junior Wells and Tiggerlion (2 each). That’s about 2.5 new topics a day.

No. of unique users who posted was 111

I need to up my game!
I sure there would be times when I was in the top-posters list. I’m not particularly engaged by recent topics, and have had none of my own to contribute. That’s just the way it goes, but I at least check in pretty every day and enjoy the general ambience even when I’m not really taking part.
Only 5 posts from you in this period (6 now), tied for 57th place
I need to get on with some bloody work!
And I need to get a life!
I would never have guessed that I’d posted so much in a week. I thought I’d been cutting down on my internet usage!
Only worry if you are over 50 posts. Oops!
We need three categories to distinguish between those who are retired, those at work and those who are supposed to be at work but are really on the Afterword.
That’s not a bad spread for this time of year. Thanks Dai.
I did my 2 posts yesterday! Otherwise I’d have been a real nowhere man.
Shaky evidence that internet persona differs from real life persona.
I will normally talk too much, have an opinion on anything, and make fatuous comments for the sake of it.
Yet here, I’m not making the top 10 .. something of a win and proof to myself that I can shut up for 5 minutes
(although Mrs D will probably disagree)
16 posts for 25th place.
But there are only 24 people here …
98.23% of my comments were Wordling related – I think Blackstar has not weathered well, I have no idea what the vast majority of the AW Toppermost albums of 25 sounds like, I hate airpods with an all-consuming passion, I’m on the last episode of Stranger Things so can’t really contribute, I love you all
53.84% actually
The only place I shut the fu”k up is online. It’s my gift to you all.
You only just missed the top 10 😉
That’s disturbing. I shall put a cork in it.
Apparently, I’m your polar opposite, Mr P…
I’m saying nowt.
That counts
I’m saying nowt again because I’m a slow learner.
If the rest of you all do Wordle (which I don’t), then I may need to turn down the ‘Mike Giggler’* act a bit. I didn’t knows I was so prolific.
My excuse is I sit at my desk all day, just a quick ctrl-tab away from these pages, which give a quick release of dopamine when the network is dawdling or I’ve successfully completed some of the day’s email/ Teams requests that flow into my inbox.
* (c) Private Eye, of course
That’s my ‘problem’, too. Database mangling can get pretty dull without regular breaks.
I actually post quite a bit around this time after I have just woken up and a little in the middle of the night being an insomniac. At work I am mostly working in a test lab and find time for browsing/posting often while waiting for an ATE (automatic test equipment) run to come to an end.
I do wonder what the scores would be if the wordle thread was stripped out. My score would probably have been higher if I’d played this month I play against a friend and started posting again on another group on Facebook, so I thought I wouldn’t play this month. I’m glad I didn’t play as I crashed out the other day (EIGHT).
I was thinking along the same lines…a lot of people seem to only come to post on Wordle threads rather than actually contributing something of interest to the site.

I would not suggest, as you plainly are, that any of the above are shrinking violets who rarely comment on all things Afterword. The Wordlers have discussed several times before moving our game elsewhere on the internet but everyone of us visit the site every day so what bloody harm are we causing you!!
Some people hog the front row of the bar and comment on everything. Others stand near the pool table and occasionally engage. Others sit in the corner and sit their pints quietly and reflectively. Our pub welcomes every damn one of them. Or perhaps I can’t say such things cos I live in France??
You should do the French version of Wordle – Motle, big in Canada I would presume
I do every morning – I’m like multi-cultural I am (he lied)
I like sitting pints, much better than sipping
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don’t post that often anymore, but when I do, I tend to waffle on for a while…does that count for extra points? 😉
I posted early on New Years Day Sydney-time, so I suspect AWHQ would time-stamp that as still in 2025.
