I’m having a clear out of books (New Year, New Me & everything) & thought some would be of interest to you lovely lot. All I ask is for the cost of the postage or a contribution to charity.
Below is a list and if there any you fancy then send me a message & I’ll get them sent recorded delivery (should be about £4 for postage and the envelope I reckon). I can then share my PayPal details. Or as mentioned above, something to charity would be grand.

Bobby Gillespie – Tenement Kid (Hardback)
Dave Mustaine – A Life In Metal (Signed Hardback)
Karl Whitney – Hit Factories (A Journey Through The Industrial Cities of British Pop) (Hardback)
Lily Allen – My Thoughts Exactly (Hardback)
Graham Coxon – Verse Chorus Monster (Hardback)
Steve Jones – Lonely Boy (Paperback
Pete Doherty – A Likely Lad (Hardback)
Dave Grohl – Storyteller (Hardback)
All have been read once and in very good condition. Only exceptions are the Mustaine one which I got second hand but still good condition & the paperback which is a bit more worn. Reason for getting rid is space & likelihood of me rereading being very low.
Disclaimer, some of the people writing these are absolute nobbers (I’m talking about you Coxon, Mustaine & Gillespie)
If you want any then please bagsy them below and send me a message with address etc and I’ll get them sent.
Also a Happy New Year to all on the blog, here’s hoping 2023 is a good one

I’ve got that Gillespie one lined up to read, so it’s good to be fore-warned (though I had strong suspicions anyway). It’s astonishing how much dosh you can waste when confronted with those ‘3 for the price of 2’ offers in Waterstones.
Personally, I’ll pass on your offer, but thanks for making it. HNY to you too.

I know I should have a clear out of thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, cassettes, occasional video tape, plus boxes of magazine ephemera. But I can’t. It’s not a health hazard, but I am mindful it will not be so respected the day after I die. I don’t care. It’s my life, and I want every reminder of the past/ hope to revisit or learn a new thing from the archive I’ve accumulated. I am sure we’ve discussed this before.

But who deals with it? My daughter is already showing hoarding tendencies (like her mother), I think in my case I should do the job for her before I go to a better place. I have decided that for vinyl I will not buy any more shelves. So one in must mean at least one out. It’s a start. And do I really need albums I haven’t played in 40 years? Probably not. I guess next time I move (if I move again) may be criticial

Excellent plan which I also have. Until I have to get rid of something, then it fails completely.

I have an impasse with storage too, as my CD space is full, which means I have to remove one for everything I add. Just don’t tell the 3 or 4 Doc Marten bootboxes full of those awaiting cataloguing, they being the DLs etc burnt to appropriate disc. Couple of hundred, conservatively. Oh, and the pile waiting shelf-room as I rejig my I-tunes library and reburn all.
Thank God I don’t buy LPs any more. Except by mistake. Which happens.

I have about 100 LPs in boxes under my desk that are waiting to be sold, but I confess it’s been a while

I spent a couple of hours yesterday emptying moving boxes full of CDs – they’d been packed away for at least a year, while we had builders in. Taking the discs and sleeves out of jewel cases and putting them into those PVC pocket thingies. I had forgotten that I’d bought about, roughly, half of them. One, which I appear to have picked up for a quid in a chazza, is currently in my Amazon basket.
From this, I conclude: I think I have too many CDs. Records, possibly because there are fewer of them, possibly because I have an emotional attachment to many, are easier to remember.

@seanioio is the Pete Doherty tome still up for grabs?
seanioio says
It certainly is. Message me your address and I will get it sent to you 🙂

In my head, my own particular first-world storage crisis orbits the elephant in my office/music room; the vinyl. I have approx. 2,500 LPs on home built shelves. They’ve mostly been there since a few weeks after we moved here, when virtually all my listening was done from LP. Over the years the increasing availability of older material on CD as well as newer work only ever (until recently) on CD has meant that the accumulation of music has shifted almost entirely to the little 5 inch format.
I could solve all of my shelf-space challenges with one simple decision: divest myself of the vinyl.
However, I find myself firmly of an @vincent persuasion. How lucky I am to have such a dilemma.

Same here.
While don’t mind giving stuff away, find the thought of throwing it away unconscionable and the idea of selling i online just not worth the attendant hassle.
Worse still, last year i made a major effort to clean up and start rediscovering my old vinyl again. It was, of course, only a small step before i started down the suicidal path of buying LPs again
