That must have been around the time of Period of Transition when Van was in something of a creative doldrums.
The year before I’d seen Mr M join Eiric Claption for two numbers (one of which I remember being Stormy Monday).at the Birmingham Odeon.
Not long after Van had left the stage, a tired and emotional EC began giving concertgoers the benefit of his not very enlightened views on a certain Mr EP
Ronno will have played that a thousand times in Hull with The Rats – it was the English Louie Louie. As Jaygee says, this is a bit of an interregnum for Van, before the renaissance of Into the Music and that mighty Montreux set (also on YT as I recall)
That was from a Dutch TV programme called Wonderland and broadcast on 22 June 1977 from Vara Studios, Hilversum, Netherlands.
Van Morrison: Lead vocals, piano
Dr. John: Piano, organ, back-up vocals
Mick Ronson: Lead guitar, back-up vocals
Mo Foster: Bass
Peter van Hooke: Drums
(Audio of the full show available on request for anyone who asks nicely.)
