[Chorus]
I went to see England, but England’s lost
I went to see England, but England’s lost
[Verse 1]
And everyone said we were all ripped off
I went to see England, but England lost
Lost, lost, lost
It wasn’t much fun standin’ in the rain
And we all yelled loud and we all complained
Wasn’t much of a game
I got soaked
Didn’t look home anyway
[Chorus]
I went to see England, but England’s lost
I went in the back, but they said, “Piss off”
I went to see England, but England’s lost
I went to see England, but England…
I went to see…
I went…
I…
[Verse 2]
I lost a blunt, think I lost the pint
She can go home and smoke a joint, anyway
Do you wanna go?
I went to find England, it wasn’t there
I went to find England, it wasn’t there
I think I lost it in the back of my chair
I think I’m losing my imagination
I’m tired of talking about immigration
You can’t get in and you can’t get out
I guess that’s what we’re all about
[Chorus]
I went to find England, but…
I went to find England, but…
I went to find England, but…
I went to find England, but England’s lost
[Bridge]
Lost, lost, lost, lost
Lost, lost, lost, lost
[Verse 4]
Had a girl in Lisbon, a girl in Rome
Now I’ll have to stay at home
So lock the shallows, bolt the doors
Nothing’s gonna be like Singapore
Don’t know what’s home
Lost, lost, lost, lost
They didn’t turn up, the comments complain
No real person is matching their shame
They’re much too young and much too hold
Growing much too hot and much too cold
That’s what I thought
[Chorus]
I went to find England
I went to find England
I went to find England
I went to find England, but England’s lost
I love that video. Almost certainly a Village of the Damned reference near the end there.
Didn’t expect to like the song at all – but I do. Well done to everyone.
First one was pretty good but not quite there, for me. Could easily have become a marginally-better-than-of-late Stones song. The second one was much more interesting for being right outside the RS box.
I liked it, which is a very rare thing for Jagger-related material of recent decades.
Keef may be pissed off that “Grip” wasn’t kept for the band and “Lost” is better than any solo stuff he’s produced lately. He’ll get over it, I’m sure and maybe he’ll up his game.
But I wonder about the Grip one – all set in a nightclub or something with 20-somethings – Mick being in with the young ‘n groovy – old enough to be their Grandad – I mean he’s just BEING MICK isn’t he? Surely he must have other stuff to write about? Or does he fear losing his, um, audience?
Geez Gary that is diligence – going back to a 2017 thread to maintain continuity.
I was pleasantly surprised, good sound, drums and guitar sound great. A bit like Respectable and he can belt out a fast lyric. ‘Cept I liked those previous ones but I have never bothered to listen to them after the first time. This one will be the same.
Someone commented on Twitter whether he was the major artist with the greatest difference in quality between their solo records and the records made as a member of a group.

A substantial contribution to the debate, certainly.
The England he left in 1970 sure as hell doesn’t exist any more.
The “Me First” society is what he wanted way back when. Now he’s complaining about the result.
I still love him though.
You should be grateful that he wanted a “Moose First” society.
Well, that would explain a lot, says Mrs Moose.
I love that video. Almost certainly a Village of the Damned reference near the end there.
Didn’t expect to like the song at all – but I do. Well done to everyone.
They are similar but I prefer Grip…as you say, very energetic performance vocally!
Only heard one so far, dreadful. No tune and lyrics that would embarrass a 6th former. Zero political insight, inspiration long gone.

I enjoyed the England one. Good job,Mick.
I quite like them

I don’t suppose today’s teens are going to be watching Sir Mick’s videos, but I reckon plenty of 20 or 30-somethings will take a look.
So what do we think of Jagger’s new song then, eh? Me, I like it. It sounds like a 70’s B-list punk band. So that’s nice.
Geez Gary that is diligence – going back to a 2017 thread to maintain continuity.

I thought it was appalling

I thought Wandering Spirit was bloody good… Primitive Cool and she’s the Boss are, however, atrocities.
