I always think that you can tell what the Italians think of the Sardinians by the fact that in the dubbed version of The Simpsons, Groundskeeper Willie talks with a Sardinian accent.

The Backbeats label had a compilation album out of independent New York Disco from the 70s out a while back. It’s called Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah and is on Apple Music apparently. Details below: It’s really […]

This year I should finish the Maigret novels. I have 10 to go. They’re very short, so they can be read pretty quickly, though there are over 70 of them.

The 40 minute album has come back now that the CD is in decline. Both Olivia Rodrigo albums are less than 40 minutes.

It might be worth having a look at Feedly. They used to have (probably still do) the entire set of the last run.

Dance the ghost with me. Below is link to a nice blog post by Andrew Collins about the song. I like the anecdote about Eldritch asking Collins to turn off the Radio 6 webcam because he wasn’t dressed in […]

Beano Krazy (short-lived more freewheeling alternative to the Beano. Good fun. Ended up getting absorbed by Whizzer & Chips or something). Look & Learn Marvel UK Kerrang! (Bought it from issue 5 or so, from […]

I read Shoot, too. I used to like the questionnaire: Bobby Russell of Rangers listed as his favourite food, “Chips in a bag”.

I’ve noticed that people have different memories of the NME depending upon whether they read in the 60s, 70s or 80s. If it was in the 60s/70s, people have quite fond memories of it overall, for helping them keep […]

With the exception of Headlong, I like the Innuendo singles: the title track, I’m Going Slightly Mad, The Show Must Go On and These Are the Days of Our Lives. The last one in particular is a very good song. The […]

You need Twice Upon a Time as well for Siouxsie and the Banshees. In fact, it’s better than the first one. They are a very underrated singles band.

I’m the opposite, I like live recordings where the audience makes a racket. My favourite Queen bootlegs are audience recordings from Japan, especially the ones in the mid 70s. Pandemonium.
