A comment on the “What’s in a Name” thread below, inspired me to go back and listen to some The The.
Infected was a fantastic album and seems just as relevant today as it did back in 1986…. Heartland about the divide between rich and poor, Sweet Bird Of Truth about the US dabbling in middle east politics etc etc.
I know in recent years Matt Johnson has been doing soundtrack albums – are they any good ?

Soul Mining, Infected, Mind Bomb and Dusk are as good a four-album opening salvo as anyone about. He’s gone his own way but boy we could have done with a bit more from him over the past 20 years
