Ben’s voice is rather nice – he has 3 or 4 solo albums (I forget) starting with North Marine Drive before EBTG. Problem is, Tracey’s voice is just special. So it does end up seeming like Tracey and her guitar player.
I’m looking forward to this album alot. Liked all the “singles”. And Tracey’s Record was my favourite album of whenever it was (dont tell me- I am sure it is much longer ago than I would like to realise).
I read a recent interview saying they’d taken the decision early on to rip up the rule book and use effects – AUTOTUNE ALERT KLAXON – on Tracey’s voice.
This had me muttering something about goose and golden eggs, and reviewing my order until I’ve heard it.
Yes that’s pretty much how I feel about it. There’s something slightly disappointingly predictable about it being dancey and clubby, although a lot of Tracey’s solo stuff is admittedly in that vein. Shame it doesn’t seem like it’ll have more in common with her Christmas album from 2012.
I feel exactly the same as you both do for what it’s worth. I’m sure I will buy it, hardly play it and then go back to playing the early ones on vinyl and the extra tracks from the deluxe cd editions.

Nice. The intro sounds very similar to “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me” by ver Smiffs.
He hasI’d not heard Ben sing before, he has a good voice. The whole thing sounds quite Sheeran-esque (there are worse crimes) to me.

Disappointing, but vocal capability can deteriorate with age
Trace don’t need no auto tune. And, if she does, I don’t need no Trace.
Ben’s Fever Dream album especially is a real beaut. In fact they all really but that’s my favourite.
Yes Tracey is just wonderful. She could sing the phone book and it would sound fab.
I felt exactly the same about the idea of the autotune. I kind of want to like this album though if that makes sense.
I’m there. I love EBTG but a little bit of me is disappointed it’s dance/clubby rather than jazz/folky. Keep the faith.

blimey that video is erm uninteresting….
Vinyl (half-speed mastered) down to 20 quid on the dodgers. Presales not smashing expectations, perhaps?
