Yes, well, Malcolm Vaughan was all biscuit, wasn’t he?
Actually, in real life I’m finding AllMusic’s ads and the way they seem to make it harder to get to the actual information increasingly irritating.
I too am finding it very user unfriendly these days. Shame – a lot of the reviews are bobbins (“sophomore efforts” abound) but the “Similar albums” feature is an invaluable portal to obscure delights.
There’s nothing worse than an unwelcome pop-up.
I can think of one thing worse.
An intrusive side-bar?
An auto-player?
Interminable buffering?
I’ve got the ‘Buffs’ first EP – Turducken Coronary.
And a coat. . .
Unexpected Flash.
You won’t believe what happens next!
What, an incredibly clean floor?
Of course I had never heard of this site. Having never seen this site when it was any good it looks fine to me (apart from those annoying ads that is).
I somehow suspect that HMHB would be rather amused by that photo.
The Related Artists button on Spotify has also introduced to many an obscure and peculiar delight. Not so much with the big name artists, as then the Related acts are other big name acts. But discover a band who are a little less known and you can make lots of discoveries.
It’s handy for track listings but they don’t seem to bother correcting things when it’s pointed out to them. I sent several emails about the Distractions’ entry back in the 90’s but they were never acted on (it’s still wrong) so I’ve never used as a proper reference.
Eh? Stackridge similar to Barclay James Harvest and The Yes, Some mistake Shirley.
Haven’t used Allmusic for a few years now.
As repeated above, it used to be a really good reference resource. Now it’s just too much aggravation.
I use Discogs these days, if I want to look an artist’s recorded output up. Wikipedia if I want biographical detail.
I seem to get by OK.
Yes, this is probably the true definition of a First World Problem, isn’t it?
