Prompted by the 1974 thread and a play of this record today, if I turn my mind to it there are a no doubt quite a few perfect albums. But this is one of them.
The perfect blend of jazz and folk. Joni’s voice still in great nick and not too trilly. Sublime musicianship, an excellent cover version , every song of a high standard. A leader in its field. Lovely cover with that raised artwork by Joni.
Yes. Perfect.

Don’t you hate it when somebody jumps into your thread and says “”Nah”? For me, early Joni’s voice is just on the edge of Joan Baez annoying. I’ve got to wait for Hejira and Lawns What Hiss before exclaiming “Yes. PERFECT.”
The Feat, “Feets don’t fail me now”.
Van M. Veedon Fleece – How can it be that it’s half-a-century old
Side 1 is is probably Vans finest side of an LP but I feel quality drops off a bit on the 2nd. Definitely a top 3 Van album for me though.
I’m on a Joni thing at the moment and must concur: Court – Lawns – Hejira are all perfect. Up there with Stevie, Prince or Dylan for top-form trilogies.
Every time I fancy some Joni I seem to reach for Shadows and Light. What a live album that is. You can get lost in Jacos bass.
Im hedging between C&S being 9.50 or 10 stars . Damn near perfect for certain but for me HOSL is definitely perfect
Hejira is perfect!
It’s one from Joni’s perfect period certainly. I’d include For the Roses, Court and Spark, Hissing of Summer Lawns and Hejira in that group, all of which come as pretty near perfect as it gets. Volume 3 of the Archives covers the first 3 of them, and is just about indispensable.
Bkue is better than all the above
Rock Bottom and AWB, both also from 1974.
