I queued up with my then girlfriend to see Annie Hall at the beginning of the second year of uni.
Like most of the world we both fell immediately in love with her. She seemed indivisible from the character of Annie Hall – but of course as she showed throughout her career for example in her next film for Allen, the very different Interiors, that was a mark of her quality as an actor.
Sad news indeed: as great and intense as the wife in the Godfather films as she was funny and smart in the Allen comedies (My Mum will be cut up over this as, like many, she copied the dress sense of Keaton in the New York films)
Very sad, a wonderful actress. The upside for me being I now have to rewatch some wonderful films and today I discovered she directed the video for Belinda Carlisle’s Heaven is a place on earth, which I was extremely fond of when I was 13. Who knew?
Sad.
Terrific actress and very sexy woman
Oh bugger
Excellent comic (and dramatic) actress, she stood by Woody too after those accusations
That’s desperately sad.

La dee dah indeed.
Good lord. I’ve been in love with Diane Keaton since forever. What a loss. RIP Annie Hall. xx

She was great in Twin Peaks. Well, she did direct an episode.
Me, sir! I knew!
We are slowly losing a quiet cohort, a scattered generation of serious quality and depth.
RIP Diane and sad condolences to those who loved her.
The scene in Godfather 2 where she tells Pacino that she’d had an abortion might be the best scene of 70s cinema
Oof. That is absolutely gripping. The way she controls that eruption of grief, misery and despair is astonishing
