I read the article and couldn’t find “I’d like to thank all my supporters on the AfterWord”
Seriously, huge congrats and kudos to Colin!

Bumpty bump
Yes, bravo and congratulations, Colin.
Thank you for bringing this Guardian article to our attention LoW
A very special thank you to Colin H for all his great support for Dick Gaughan and the hard work he has put into getting this project off the ground
I’m looking forward to receiving the set that Colin has helped put together and mostly for bringing Dick Gaughan’s music to my attention I was aware of the great man but had never actually heard any of his work until the Kickstarter project was announced my musical life has been enriched through the actions of Colin
Good old Jude to write that piece. And good old Colin. Bravo.
Thank you, Lodey, Darling, Pyro, Retro! 🙏
If anyone wants to hear the new ‘Live at the BBC: 1972-79’ album – out last week on CD, out soon on vinyl – the splendid Malcolm Holmes at Talking Elephant has made it available on Bandcamp for free listening (three times):

In honour I’m gonna play a track from Sunset Cavaliers on a jazz show I do down here.
Splendid!
Even if you weren’t a poster here, @Colin_H, I’d nominate you to be the AW person of the year. You are doing heroic work here, by standing up for what is right. I believe that you will succeed and that Dick’s music will find a larger audience. Other artists in the same position may also benefit.
Even if it doesn’t work out, it’s still heroic and inspiring.
Thank you Leffe – that’s a remarkably kind thought. I believe that we will succeed but some people like to drag out disputes to the nth degree, presumably hoping to exhaust the other side’s patience and resources. That won’t happen here.
I’m haunted / driven by Gaughan’s performance of ‘What You Do With What You’ve Got’:
Evil happens when good people do nothing.
I also keep coming back to that one lately. I saw him play once (Manchester, I think…? Might have been late 80s) and he was a force of nature really, almost avant-garde in that he sounded like nobody else.
Some of that ancient magic will be seen in sparkling, restored form on the box set DVD. Here’s a glimpse of the mighty Eroc’s restoration on ‘Revolution’ from 1 1990 amateur source:
I’ve seen the article shared by Marry Waterson and Eliza Carthy whose parents could have benefitted from any royalties if celtic music had done the right thing.
I cannot understand what they hope to gain by not releasing stuff.
I do hope there’s a successful outcome for Dick too.
Come on folks, do your bit if you haven’t already – stump a few quid to take it to the Celtic man!
