We’ll have no shouting here from posters who missed the show’s London run and are hoping to see it when it goes on tour
So who was the guest star on your night?
We got Josh WIddicombe
Coming up with new jokes for each performance must have been tough
Read somewhere about Mark Bonnar being ribbed about his role in the poorly received remake of Porridge
“It actually got five star reviews – one star in the Guardian, one star in the Telegraph…
Morgana Robinson for us, having great fun mocking the kidnap attempt as she bellowed, ‘WANKERS!!!‘ as she exited stage left.
We had Simon Pegg, so child 2 was beyond excited to find it was him. Lots of corpsing in that bit. We’ve been discussing who has not been on it yet, particularly those who have been on the show – Diane Morgan and Jack Whitehall for starters
We had Meera Syall. Choice lines: ‘I asked to be on the TV show – not this shit’ and ‘you can’t do this to me, I’m very nearly a national treasure’.
The problem is these posts show up in updates which is not easy to ignore as you scroll through.
Clearly marked SPOILERS and do NOT read. No much else I can do. Big piece on the Times over the weekend where some details were given away.
I’m just saying that they are readable in the updates as you scroll past in updates. So its difficult not to read them.
We had Danny Baker who was very happy to play. When teased about Pets Win Prizes he replied “ At least it was on BBC1, something you guys wouldn’t understand”
I did see one wag on Wiki claiming Terry Waite was one night’s guest hostage. Bad form but in keeping with the show.
Some people! You Loan em a tenner and they stay out of your way for years and years
Goddammit – I can’t read this thread until September!
Saw this in Manchester yesterday. Excellent. Highly recommended.
Our celebrity was Scarlett Moffat. She actually made me cry with laughter.
I finally got around to watching the Emerald Fennell film “Saltburn” the other night. Nice to see Reece Shearsmith popping up in that!
So, funny story…having enjoyed the London show so much, we really fancied going again – and this time Mrs Malc wanted to go, despite having found the Sphinx episode a bit much. Booked tickets for the Milton Keynes week, despite child 2 starting uni the weekend before. So I put the 9th in the diary and made sure to plan around it. Come the 9th, child 2 comes home as planned and just before leaving the house I checked the tickets…which were for the 11th. Oops. Thought of calling to call the theatre, but no phone number available. Then Mrs Malc said “are there any tickets available for tonight?” and luckily we found some decent seats in the stalls, so off we went. Kevin Whately was the guest hostage (he lives locally, I gather) and came out to watch the second half from just a few seats away from us.
Which left me with a few tickets for the 11th. (We had cancellation insurance, but apparently stupidity isn’t covered.) Friends we knew to be fans of the show weren’t available at short notice, so I called my sister to see if she and her husband knew the show. No, they’d never watched it – but with their daughter getting married the weekend after, they were up for a night out to take their minds off it. So that’s how I got to see it for a 3rd time, and thankfully my hunch that they’d enjoy it was correct. Also fun to watch for their reactions to the bits I knew were coming, of course. Our guest hostage was Roisin Conaty. Still no Diane Morgan yet, as far as I can tell, but Ralf Little has now done it twice.
Jimmy Tarbuck tonight. 85 and apparently was relishing it.
Basil Brush. A two hood night.
Liverpool Empire last night. Guest was Claire Sweeny who was very funny. She appeared to know absolutely nothing about what was going on – is that real or just good writing?
Highly recommended show. I’ve seen all of the TV series but the GLW, her fiend and my son had never seen it so went in with no expectations whatsoever and really enjoyed it.
Pretty sure that bit of the show is adlibbed
