The Yorkshire farmer’s son whose development into
a nuclear physicist in the US was tracked in seven

That’s sad to hear. The programmes were superb, and the ‘cast’, being of similar ages to myself were a fantastic cross section of society. They were sympathetically filmed by Apted, but by their nature had to be sonewhat exploitative. Nick always struck me as down to earth, slightly embarrassed by the filming, but also aware of the interest and social impact of the programmes.
