If you’ve recently bought an internet, you may have noticed the youngsters having “memes”, which is their idea of fun! So I thought, why can’t Us Olds (as the scamps affectionately call us!) join in the fun with our own “memes” LOL?!
Why not indeed! Except that first you have to have an idea, which seems to rule it out, but the idea doesn’t have to be yours! You can copy somebody else’s idea and just change it slightly or not at all! So don’t be put off if you’ve never had an idea in your life! And except that second, most “memes” seem to have a picture in them, and for those of us (and this is probably you) without any pictures this seems to be a fun-making deal breaker! BUT! Some memes don’t have pictures at all, or use somebody else’s picture!
I hope the attachment to this email will “inspire” you to show the youngsters we’re hip as a hip replacement!
I’m worried that the effort to “add content” other than the usual off-topic nonsense that comprises 93.26% of the forum will be just too demanding. Who has the time? The ideas? The pictures? But anyway.
*sob*!
@Gary
In the light-hearted (SWIDT) spirit of the thread, I hope you copied that joke from someone else
It is, I believe, one of the most popular memes in South East Asia.
In the rice paddies of the Mekong River Delta, I believe they speak of little else
I followed the instructions but I think I just broke the internet. A nice lady said she’d ring back once she had checked my bank account to make sure everything was ok. I’m in Biarritz this morning by the way … lots of young dudes with surfboards. Might give that a go later.
Hubes shoots, scores.
Too many snags.
Do you mean “songs”? Showing results for too many songs.
Nah. I never got it off on that revolution stuff.
But your brother’s back at home with them.
Gatz doing one for the team!
Please yourselves. I thought this was brill.
*sulks*
Hats off to everyone who has created an AW meme so far. It’s a great idea to have some Aftermemes but let’s not forget the enormous amount of work that often goes into a good meme.
This is very ancient but still wonderfully funny.
As is this!
Trump is always a meme just waiting to happen.
Am I the only person on the planet not to have seen any of those?
the Don and Hil duet shades it for me due to the effort that must have gone into editing and synching the footage
Bullseye!
He’s right
Noice!
Will this do?
Just like to point out that the word ‘meme’ is actually me me (me me me me me repeat ad infinitum and nauseam).
Does this qualify as a meme? Not sure.
Well judging by the number of times it’s turned up on me socials in the past few days, it’s certainly memeish.
Is there a young person – you know, under fifty – we can ask for a definitive ruling?
Not round here. You’re on your own.

This is a picture of a dog, and a very nice picture of a dog, but fails to achieve memehood, or even memishness.
I’ll level with you – I was just seeing if I could successfully load a pic from my library. Now that it looks like I can, I will send a real meme. You’ll love it.

Hide The Pain Harold – must read!

“This article is 4 years old.”
On the AW that counts as last week.
If you can remember last week, you weren’t there
insert “like” gif, here
For those in the know, they know.
Still wildly popular…
*snork*!
Chapeau! The first Venn diagram I’ve seen here since the days of Fraser Lewry!
AND it mentions VdGG!
*blush* Thanks, fitz, you’re a pal.
This thread presupposes the ability to make memes. A mistake.
The meme backlash begins here
As you’ll see from Mr. Thep’s and Gardener’s contributions above, an ability to make memes (*cough* as detailed in the actual text to the post, Junes – might I direct your attention to it?) is not required. You can, as they have done, post any random picture you like, copied from somewhere else. You could argue that this is a lazy and creatively bankrupt approach with little or no connection to The Afterword, and you’d be right. But at least they are adding content, and not whining that they are prevented from doing so when in actual fact they are not.

You’re welcome.
That Hide the Pain Harold article was an excellent read. For András Arató, his face really was his fortune.
You’ve become a real Mememaster, H.P.
And a big hand too to all the other Blue Memies here who have made me chuckle.
Thinking of All Our Yestermemes,
Jacob “Dream a little meme of me” Rees Mogg couched sublime in the Commons who generated such a landslide of spoofs.
Here’s a photo from the morning’s Dagens Nyheter by in-house photographer Eva Tedesjö which illustrates an article on Swiftie Dads.
Modern families, eh? Birds of many different musical feathers!
Punk Uncles. Synth Siblings. Metal Grannies. Country Cousins. Eurovision Aunties….
No true afterworderererer would hold a vinlys L.P. like that!
