This is one I’d love to go to, but sadly beyond my current spending limit, what with car and computer repairs coming along at the same time as needing a new freezer.
Some here may not have heard about this and will want to go.
I well remember seeing them on a double bill with The Passions many, many years ago at Acklam Hall, underneath The Westway near Ladbroke Grove. That was a very good night.

Of course, if you haven’t got “Live at the Counter Eurovision 79” you’ve missed out very badly.
Missed out very badly? You’re like a cabbage in this society, more like.
Agreed. I was surprised to see how many gigs Misty In Roots had played in the last decade, given that they haven’t released anything new since 1989. Not to mention various brushes with the Grim Reaper.
Quite tempted by this. Never seen Misty unfortunately but I’d like to, and having seen Ruts DC back in early summer I can report that they were superb and well worth checking out.
The Passions!!
They were OK. Misty In Roots were stars of the show, obviously.
Well, obviously!
I saw them headlining at the Lyceum. 3rd o the bill were Depeche Mode.
Who was second? I’m going for Fad Gadget.
Dumpy’s?
I went through a period of some months when Dedringer seemed to be supporting almost every band I saw.
Back in my day, it was Boys Wonder. I saw them two nights on the trot, supporting A Certain Ratio and The Icicle Works.
They later became Corduroy.
My bass-playing friend Martin was with Dumpy’s Rusty Nuts for a while.
Is that the bass player you mentioned when we met earlier last month?
It is. He also played with Vardis for a while, after their original bassist died.
I cannot remember. I would guess that this was the gig.

They were still very much an Essex band at that time, weren’t they? I never saw them but I remember driving past loads of pubs – The Bridge House Canning Town, The Regency Suite in Chadwell Heath etc – at that time with posters up advertising them as coming soon.
Their first single was about to be, or had just been released. I think I knew who they were at that time. The New Romantic / electro pop thing expanded quite rapidly once it got started.
Back in 1982 they toured Zimbabwe and I folllwed them around saw 3 or 4 shows. I took some great photos with this huge power station or something behind.
When in London in 1983 I somehow interacted with their manager who asked if he could borrow my slides. Hey Mistah Manager dis bald head won dem slides back !
