I’ve got a boot of the New York sessions at home, the back cover of which says which takes the songs are from: I’ll stick a scan up here later if it is of interest.
I have The New York Sessions bootleg, but on the version I have there is no information on which take was used.
Tracks and sessions are as follow
1 – Tangled Up In Blue – Columbia A&R Studios, September 12th 1974
2 – Simple Twist Of Fate – Columbia A&R Studios, September 16th 1974
3 – You’re A Big Girl Now – Columbia A&R Studios, September 12th 1974
4 – Idiot Wind – Columbia A&R Studios, September 12th 1974
5 – You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go – Columbia A&R Studios, September 16th 1974
6 – Meet Me In The Morning – Columbia A&R Studios, September 12th 1974
7 – Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts – Columbia A&R Studios, September 12th 1974
8 – If You See Her Say Hello – Columbia A&R Studios, September 23rd 1974
9 – Shelter From The Storm – Columbia A&R Studios, September 16th 1974
10 – Buckets Of Rain – Columbia A&R Studios, September 16th 1974
Inevitably, when I get home I discover my memory’s been deceiving me – there’s no take info on the label at all – just the session info similar to that above.
However, mine has entirely different provenance to Carl’s, so make of that what you will!
The disc titles itself ‘Blood On The Tapes’, and here’s the scan I promised:
Most of us fans would have that boot. Blood on the tapes my copy is called. But collating from the official scrubbed stuff on MBOTT should sound a lot better.
I put together this mix a few weeks ago from the New Yorker article.
I have listened to it 3 or 4 times now.
In my opinion it is far superior to the official original release ( which I have always loved ).
This is much darker and melancholic ( maybe in tune with the artists state of mind at the time ? ).

I wasn’t suggesting otherwise, simply providing information from the boot I have that is titled Blood On The Tracks – New York Sessions.

All good

And yes, ineed, there’s the one I just took the trouble to scan!
Never mind, at least I now know I have a recognised boot/dodgy comp that’s on some form of list.

This is the track listing from the article for anyone too lazy to sort it out (like me)
To assemble the original “Blood on the Tracks” from the eighty-seven takes on “More Blood, More Tracks,” select tracks 69 (CD 5, No. 3), 71 (CD 5, No. 5), 34 (CD 3, No. 3), 76 (CD 5, No. 10), 48 (CD 4, No. 2), 16 (CD 2, No. 5), 11 (CD 1, No. 11), 59 (CD 4, No. 13), 46 (CD 3, No. 15), and 58 (CD 4, No. 12).

That’s my Saturday morning sorted then.
