I just tried to add Downtown by Neil Young and Downtown by Crazy Horse to my smartphone, from iTunes library, and it tells me for the second one I can skip, or replace. Cos it has the same title (and cos both are track 6 on their respective CDs) it thinks it’s the same track – so I can’t have both. Short of renaming tracks, does anyone know of a way to get round the ” skip or replace” ultimatum?

Put each album in a different folder. Not only will it stop problems like this, but it will improve performance too.

In your iTunes library use the space bar to put a space after one of the titles. It’ll think they’re two different titles.

If you don’t put albums into their own folders then the more files you have, the greater the chance of running into this problem, and not just on your phone but any device you have.
Put them into their own folders with a consistent naming system and then transfer the folders.

Ash thanks – sounds like a plan – I guess maybe I should try dragging across from the finder type thingy rather than directly from the iTunes library
