Planning a trip to Miami/Florida – want some good music to put me in mood (other than Gloria Estefan/Pitbull/Will Smith) — Miami doesn’t seem as readily associated with any rock bands songs as other major American cities, so any recommendations would be gratefully received. Thanks!

Listening to Tom Petty Hard Promises the other day it struck me what a fantastic album it is – til you get to side 2. Bowie oftern seemed to do this – stick all the best songs in side 1 (see Scary Monsters) … with Todd Rundgren, if you took side 1 of Initiation and side 2 of Faithful you’d have one fantastic collection of songs (though i must admit I do love Initation side 2 Treatise on Cosmic Fire). So what do you think are the top 10 albums with only one good side?

Is the Wiki claim true, that wrestler Mick McManus co-wrote Silver Machine? Really??? And have any other top TV grapplers made forays into the rock world?

…and Elvis Costello, and certain other artists? I put stuff on my Moto phone and some albums have missing artwork. The bizarre thing is that it will not allow any artwork by some artists – eg every Dan album is blank… Any explanations/suggestions?

I just tried to add Downtown by Neil Young and Downtown by Crazy Horse to my smartphone, from iTunes library, and it tells me for the second one I can skip, or replace. Cos it has the same title (and cos both are track 6 on their respective CDs) it thinks it’s the same track – so I can’t have both. Short of renaming tracks, does anyone know of a way to get round the ” skip or replace” ultimatum?

I know the Afterword doesn’t often do classical, but “Storm” from Benjamin Britten’s Sea Interludes recently came up on shuffle – I’m sure I have heard it in some film – I’m thinking Hitchcock – but cannot find any reference on tinternet – anybody agree/help?

For any KC fans who don’t know, there’s a whole bunch of free new downloads from their 2017 Americas tour on the DGM site. There’s pretty much a full concert in total – and a particular highlight is the version of Schizoid Man from a Mexico concert – the uninhibited whooping away during the instrumental bit is major fun – makes a real change from the often po-face reaction that seems to be expected from a Crimso audience. Can’t help feeling even Fripp enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

Afterword has become my resource of choice when it comes to consumer advice —- this time it’s the Amazon ‘top up’ offer. This seems to say that if you too up your account by £70 they give you £5 to your account – I interpret this as meaning I can add £70 to my gift card, then spend it on a new smartphone, and afterwards they’ll add £5 to my account. Am I right? Has anyone done this?

My old iPod Touch seems unlikely to last much longer – the battery currently won’t last as long as the length of an album without recharging. I want to replace it – I can’t justify the cost of an iPhone much as I’d like one, and I’m quite happy to carry on using my old Nokia mobile… I really need it most as a music player that’ll take good-quality photos and has a really good battery life. I’m tempted to just get another iPod Touch – even though it appears it’ll soon be obsolete – or I could fo for a cheaper smartphone (under £200). Any thoughts/suggestions/insults? Thanks

No, not the Police track but one of those moments that seem to have been scripted somewhere else – driving home yesterday, after the storms, IPod on shuffle, ‘Thunder & Lightning Kid’ by Man closed, the finishing note blending perfectly into the start of ‘Chain Lightning’ by Steely Dan. Everything matched – musically, thematically – even the band names rhymed! Any other examples of perfect combos?

Gift voucher burning a hole in my pocket- any recommendations for best box sets or similar for £10 to £50?

Amazon are offering an “Amazon MasterCard” – it seems that if you apply you get a £10 gift card from them — now I’m something of a numbskull when it comes to finance, so is anyone else aware of this/a user of it? Can I really just sign up and get a £10 freebie and then just forget about the credit card? I wouldn’t want to use it anywhere else and I don’t ever plan on spending £1,000 a year on Amazon. But I enjoy a freebie…

These days I probably spend as much time listening to music in my car as anywhere else – but currently I use a Belkin plug-in thingy and it’s constantly being drowned out by interference/BBC Radio Wiltshire (pretty much the same thing)… can anyone recommend a simple (cheapish) kind of speakers that’ll just run off batteries/car charger and connect wifily/bluetoothly to one’s player?

Has anyone here tried it? Is it any good/ better than aaaghTunes? Is it possible to run it alongside iTunes to try it out? This article makes it seem an attractive option…

Thinking of investing in the Doors collection – all 6 albums remastered/remixed – anyone heard it, is it worth it? Does the re-doing add anything to the originals?
