Harold stands by his original assessment – 3-0 and no idea which side will win. Having said that, not having Stokes is going to hurt. A lot. And Harold is an England supporter. Not quite barmy enough to be Barmy Army material, but enough to annoy my Ozzie children.
He’s good, but at Ashes level seems like a bit of a trundler, backing up to give the others a rest for mine so not that big of a loss really. OOAA.
Harold is looking forward to the next generation of Aussie quicks. Here’s hoping that Mickey Edwards’ intro to international cricket is a) as successful as his Blues debut last weekend (4-for against Tassie), and b) as hilarious as his substitute debut against Pakistan. The funniest 2 or 3 hours Harold has ever seen in sport, and must be the only time David Warner has been booed as he made his way on to the oval by an Australian crowd because they wanted Mickey out there.
The England squad seems a bit pick n mix – not sure I see the big runs you need to succeed in Australia – thinks wistfully back to the days of 500 plus for two,

Yeah Stokes is a loss, but the Aussies lost Pattinson for the season today.
I think it’s going to pretty even, which I look forward to, being a New Zealand supporter (living in Oz)

We have had one of these over the last few decades.
Botham 1980s
No one 1990s
Flintoff 2000s
Stokes 2010s
Ride out the storm and bring him back.
He is 26 and needs to grow up, especially being a father as well.
