Very late in the day to mark it. Without Richard Herring’s heroic marathon Twitter sessions where he would respond to any tool who posted on International Women’s Day “Yeah but when is International Men’s Day?” it had slipped my mind this year until this late hour. I can’t say I’ve marked it in any significant way today but as I never miss an opportunity to throw some Roddy Frame into the spotlight, here’s a suitable tune…
(see below)

What a talented bloke. A wonderful performance of a great song.
In reply, here’s another blast from the past…
It’s minus 2 here and the first snows of winter have fallen in Stockholm. Back to Roddy who has a song for every occasion.
On a more sobering note, today is also World Pancreatic Cancer day…

Pancreatic cancer is a c**t. It can do one.
It most certainly is and yes it can certainly do one.
…with which sentiments, I would like to associate myself…
I saw this news this morning. In my booksellings days I had a regular slot on Dave’s BBC Essex programme, and I’ve enjoyed many chats when we’ve met since. He’s a warm and highly intelligent man, and unlike other presenters I met at the station has the knack of forming bonds with his studio guests rather than addressing the mic. Fare thee well, Dave.
