So in among the dusty old singles from Bob, Cilla, Sandie, Bing and Tyrannosaurus Rex there were 2 identical discs by 80’s ceiling dwellers Blancmange “Irene and Mavis”. They made no sense. A brief search and discussion on here on the Dave Clark 5 thread (the song is a DC5 cover) and it was clear they were a rarity of sorts. Only 500 made, completely independent label and worth £100 according to Discogs.
On Christmas day my girlfriends family were over so I asked her Mum about the 2 Blancmange singles tucked away in Nans record box “Oh yes, I knew Stephen Luscombe”. So there we have the provenance and we have 2 of the original 500. We discussed what to do with them and we agreed to put one on E-Bay to see what happens. So not the emotional impact of the older singles, they’re going nowhere but a distraction from the first Christmas without Nan, a bit of fun and maybe a few quid to spend on something nice for the family.

Excellent. You might want to add a grade to the listing (I know you can’t play test, so just state that it’s a visual grade). Also, the postage seems very cheap; this might suggest to potential buyers that it won’t be packaged to the hilt, which it really should be, especially as it’s so valuable.
Good luck, I’ll be watching with interest!

Thanks, not sure how to change it now but I’ll put a note in the description…….

Yes, I don’t think you can edit the listing once there are bids, but you can definitely add info.

Fantastic – on my watch list now! Fingers crossed.

It wouldn’t do any harm to your cause to put some new pics on the listing, with better lighting and focus.

Good idea, taken on a dodgy Blackberry, I’ll get the camera out and update them….

Great find – and the fact you know the provenance is great – agree with MiniB you need to provide info about the condition – maybe ask yr mum if she played it much – if she recalls when Steve gave her the copies etc that’ll add some value.
Have a look under a strong light for any obvious marks or scratches and any rips, creases or marks on sleeve and just describe honestly what you see –
When you post it take the record out of the picture sleeve so it doesn’t damage the sleeve in transit, pop it in a poly bag or something to keep it all together and get a stiff card mailer or a jiffy bag and insert some cardboard either side of it so it can’t shift about in the envelope – the buyer will probably advise if necessary – and you probably want to post it insured & signed for.
not trying to lecture you about selling records but as a seller/buyer trust me the more info you can provide, and the more reassurance it’ll reach the buyer safely the more bids and the better price you’ll get.
