Seems Neil has called time on his SORH career. I am very sad about this. A quiet man, who’s faced some real shitty times in his life. Polite beyond belief when me and two spotty 15yo mates crashed their afternoon tea at the band’s hotel in Leeds in 1981 to get our tour programmes signed.
Go for it, Neil…..

It seems to have been on the cards for a while. He’s 63, with tendon problems as well as all the prior tragedy, so I can see why just wanting to spend time with your loved ones appeals. He also seemed ill at ease with the whole rock star thing, too uncomfortable to even do the pre-gig meet and greets. I wish him well.
Ah. No need to keep the diary clear for that European leg of the tour then? I agree that – as far as I can judge – he’s a good egg. I read his Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road book recently. It’s a harrowing portrait of grief at times and there is rather too much motorbikey chat for my liking. However something that really shines through is his instinctive drive to do the right thing and, above all, his unshakeable loyalty to his friends. That makes him OK by me.
His earlier book, Masked Rider, about cycling across Africa is also well worth a read.
1980, sorry. Permanent Waves tour.
Aah *$&*@*&!!!
Very sad day but not unexpected. An almighty talent and a total gent. Hope he has a lovely retirement.
‘SORH’
Got there in the end – it took a couple of minutes.
You need to listen to more Rush then is the obvious reply.
Nice guy, good luck to him.
When’s the rarities set coming out?
Geddy Lee denied this story in a brief interview on Planet Rock today, so only time will tell on this one…..
