Somebody must know this one? And although it’s another American story, I nominate Dylan’s Isis for it’s deft rhyme scheme

Pessoa commented on the post, John Lennon and Yoko Ono Power to the People Box set 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I have no great interest in this recording or even his solo career to be honest, but it feels like the suppression of “that” song seems to be about keeping up the posthumous public image of Lennon as a saintly, […]

Musica Dispersa ( 1970) are apparently singing in Catalan in defiance of General Franco. Is that true? They sound very old. Lilliput( previously Kleenex) were Swiss- German, yet this is a possibly made up language.

Is that what was also called the Polydor “Flashback” series? I had the Velvet Underground one that included, without any credit, the alternate version of “Some Kind of Love.”

There was time when “Snap” seemed lot of casual listeners’ favourite Jam album; it also has the better version of “That’s Entertainment.”

Mary Hampton, once lead singer with Stereolab offshoot Imitation Electric Piano (another band on hiatus), released a good solo album, “My Mother’s Children” in 2008, but seems to have quit music-making since […]

I discovered Sabbath via The Butthole Surfers; I honestly enjoy them more than Led Zep. Love the waltz-time interludes in this. Cheers, Ozzy!

Pessoa commented on the post, Buckingham Nicks album to be re-released 2 months, 2 weeks ago
That’s a useful distinction. There are an awful lot of “unofficial” reissues of old albums on the Japanese market that fly under the lawyers’ radar: for example, you can get Pink Floyd’s “Piper” album (the […]

Ah, Big Pink reissues can be bought off the shelves in Japan, whatever the legal dubiousness: I recently got their edition of Jimmy Campbell’s Half-Baked.

Thanks for the tip, I will try to read this: the Sugababes were a terrific pop group and, I believe, a very combustible bunch of people.

I think this topic was mentioned in a previous thread in terms of the “greatest” compilation albums, but I am as ever all up for a collection of curiosities (like Nuggets or Rubble) or a well-distilled greatest […]

I have previously sung the praises of the short, well-curated vinyl compilation album as the best value for hearing a minor band: ‘Long Day’s Flight’ by the Electric Prunes, ‘Revenge of the Quackenbush Brothers’ […]

But to get “Candy and a Currant Bun” and “Apples and Oranges,” or even “It Would Be So Nice” you had to get the imported Masters of Rock comp (which left “Point Me At The Sky” as the lost single).
