Japan absolutely deserved the win. You know when a sporting event is a great one when it excites your emotions as a neutral, and my emotions were extremely excited!
I love this quote from coach Eddie Jones, after the game: “It got to 60 minutes, and we were right in it but I thought it was going to be like the woman going into the shower in a horror film – you just knew what was going to happen next. The Boks would come back, score and score, and it would finish 50-20 and everyone would say how well we had done, plucky Japan. We were more than brave out there. For the boys to turn down the chance of a draw with that last penalty to go for the win, and get it, told you everything about them.”
I envy your friend, @duco01!
Delighted for Japan, and the last 2 mins of that game was just magnificent sport. To outfox the Springboks in the scrum is one thing, do it again, be disciplined, a perfect hand-off and score a good try is a whole different thing. Great stuff, I was out of my seat. The Pumas were pretty good yesterday as well, and Ireland are going to face a tough game should they meet in the quarters.
I’m beyond belief

A friend of mine was there at the stadium in Brighton today. He said the atmosphere was simply incredible.
BANZAI!!!
A great achievement – but that f*cks up my pool. Scotland needed SA to win everything, and then have us finish second. This is now difficult.
And M’sieur Garces was not tres bon (Japan still deserved the win)
