Three songs recorded live to a laptop in a church hall somewhere in middle England during the Summer. We like to include the traditional onstage bantz – “Can you hear the banjo…yeah, sorry about that…” at this juncture. There is also a fiddle involved, but no drums.
An exegesis of the title track appears here – http://skirky.blogspot.nl/2017/07/there-was-young-woman-from-bath.html
Thanks to Fenton Steve of this parish for undimmed enthusiasm throughout the process.
Yes, folks, that’s really me plugging in the one microphone and (mostly) putting the kettle on. I pressed ‘Record’ and ‘Pause’ on this one, too. I am available for hire.
Seriously, my pal Sam and I are available if anyone is interested in recording live and in the round. If you can play and we like you, we can record you as well. Tolerance of smutty jokes is an advantage.
Awesome! Is there a link to buy/listen? Or is that at the blogspot link too? 🙂
Ahem. http://helenandtheneighbourhooddogs.bandcamp.com/album/nelson
Duly purchased! 😊
That is rather good, I will buy when I/we get beck from our hols, I don’t download to my pad.
Oh, plaudits to @fentonsteve and his mate Sam. I think I’ll reform ‘Sweaty Jelly’ and take him up on his kind offer.
I mean, you have to feed him almost constantly, but other than that he’s virtually housetrained.
If I’m totally honest, this one has possibly a tiny bit more ‘room’ than I’d like ideally – but the performances are so much better than the ones we did earlier in the year (in another chapel with slightly better acoustics). The venue hire is dirt cheap, too – we spent more on biscuits.
If you’re really lucky, and I remember my camera, you might end up in a Sound On Sound feature.
