Someone posted a blog on here complaining that it was awful because it was filled with repetitive stories about drink and drugs. Which is technically accurate, but I found it to be consistently interesting. Every page was worth being there (with the possible exception of the timeline pages). There was no bloat in my opinion. I think at 700 pages it might be a bit much for the non-dedicated reader.
I will add that I know two people who saw a recent non-Hook NO concert. Apparently Barney was pissed off, unhappy to be there and constantly complaining about the sound quality even though both reported the sound was excellent. Now I know this is standard arsehole behaviour from Barney and not even remotely unusual. They both loved the concert by the way.
One of them later saw Peter Hook and the Light and thought Peter Hook was better than NO. His choice of tracks were better as it leaned more towards the great early material instead of the newer weaker material.
Only recently read Hooky’s Joy Division book. Not to imply that he dwells overlong on one particular detail, but he must have been really miffed that Roddy Doyle had already taken the title “The Van”..
Also The Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club (1 Oct 2009) is 99p for the Kindle. I’ve bought it.
I finished his book Substance (about NO) a few days ago. Brilliant book. I’ve no idea why people are moaning about it. The JD book is also excellent.
‘A load of biographies are cheap on the Kindle today’
What other books? Lists needed.
Got the Hacienda one too. Thus completing the trilogy. Thanks for heads up @ip33
Why are people moaning about his New Order book?

Interesting, thanks!
That would have been me! I did finish the book and it grew on me. His books are well worth 99p!
Hooky’s “Unknown Pleasures” bought for 99p. Thanks for the heads up.

Also already spoiled: second choice “My Booky Wook” by Peter “Hooky” Hook.
Or the opening of Steven Wells’s 1989 NME feature on Revenge:
“Who the fook, Who the fook, Who the fook is Peter Hook”
