Arlott commentating on the Lords streaker was priceless. He made some comment about hurdling the stumps which had the rest of the team in a fit of giggles.

Very true.
I thought it was only me who finds that Vaughan has turned into a twerp. His obsession with the beer cup train in Headingley, nonsense and do shut up. I have to turn him off. Also, if Graham Swann […]

Wonderful stuff, can still recall watching this with my dad. Cliff Morgam had a great voice, and no more excitable than he needed to be.

More Bazza.
I never tire of this one.

Not really what you’re asking for, but I think the essence of The Who is best seen in The Kids are Alright documentary. Watching the bits with Keith Moon playing up to Pete Townshend always brings a lump, even […]

Saw them live several times in the late 80s/early 90s. They were sensational, Aaron’s voice and Art’s funk. Real time old entertainers who knew how to put on a show, and energised by the younger Cyril. Wonderful memories

HEARD. Nothing new. I have taken to listening to albums I had loved, but not listened to for a while. Yellow Moon by The Neville Brothers is as great as it ever was. I have had the Babyshakes on regular listening […]

Yes at Wembley Arena in 1977.
The Who at Bingley Hall, 1979 or ’80.
Ten Benson at a club venue on Brick Lane, forget the name, something like 90 Feet East sometime in the 90s. -

I’m not sure how I’m going to cope now that it’s finished, watch it all over again perhaps.
I thought the ending was great, very romcom I know, but it left us with that uncertainty about whether Laure & Gilou […]

The Golden Hind in Marylebone used to be wonderful; large portions and amazingly cheap for that part of London. It was run by Cypriots and food/atmosphere was just right It has since been tarted up and doesn’t […]

Did you go to The Clissold Arms, and see the Kinks room. I went to a Kinks night there a few years back, the place was packed with pissed and mad fans from France. A great night.

Yes indeed, me too. So much for the Conservative and Unionist party, eh. I do think there’s an inevitably about a united Ireland, and there will be problems and it will be difficult. When it happens I’ll think […]

Hard to avoid, but try not to. These people are quite mad. After the riots, the number of Trump demonstraters who came out deploring violence was staggering. What the hell were they doing in Washington anyway, […]

I thought he was there when the great West Indies team were at their peak. One of his anecdotes, after being baited by Aggers, is facing Michael Holding’s opening over. He didn’t see the first 5 balls, the 6th […]

Indeed so, very impressive to score 300+ runs in the 4th innings.
A silly question, possibly.
Why has The Gabba been so impregnable ? Is there any reason for this ? The English team always seems to get itself in […]

James Rebanks’s books give me hope for the future in his clarity of thought and love/care for the countryside. Do get yourself a copy of The illustrated Herdwick Shepherd, a companion volume to The Shepherd’s Life […]

Over the last year, I have been finding it harder to sit down and read for any length of time. When this unpleasantness started, no problem. Great, sit out in the garden, read, be back at work in a few months. […]

A big fan of John Baxter. Assume you will have read A pound of paper about his adventures in the book trade. I suspect it may well have been hugely exaggerated, but great fun to read. His books about Paris are […]
