As you will have noticed there’s a problem on the site with replying to anything.

Naturally, We are working tirelessly in the background and with our hosting supplier to sort this out but it’s proving trickier than we imagined. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, we very much hope.

In the meantime please avoid going to porn hub as you will only get disappointed when it asks you how old you are.

Can EVERYONE  please stop putting videos in posts. We’ve asked this time and time again. We’ve now removed the video box from the posts form but please don’t paste them in as text links either. Just make your post and then immediately after, add your video as the first comment. It’s not hard.

We can’t figure out why this happens but every now and again video links break the site and either remove a number of posts until we catch up with it or, like today, they remove every post!

We suppose it was only a matter of time until it got forgotten, but can we please remind everyone to AVOID posting videos in new posts (it can cause havoc with our backend – oooh, er, missus).

Do your post then add the video in an additional comment.

Can we please reiterate our regular request for everyone to avoid putting videos in Posts. Please add a first comment and put them in those.

We understand that posts don’t look quite as enticing without the video but just occasionally videos cause an issue that results in other posts being lost and time having to be spent sorting that out.

Stop Press: The Recent Comments module has now been rebuilt and is back.

We’re back up to speed but the recent glitch means that the Recent Comments list will be down  for a while while we get to the root of the problem.

There is a glitch on the site at the moment which means that some posts are disappearing from the main page but remain active and you’ll still see them in the recently updated lists.

Our crack team (i.e. Rich) is on the case but it’s a strange one (the case, not Rich) so bear with us.

Go to the USER menu in the right-hand sidebar and open your own profile. When there you should see a COMPOSE button – clicking that will open a contact form and you enter the username of whoever you’re trying to send a message to.

After much discussion in the Mod penthouse, we thought this might be an opportune moment to clarify a couple of things with regards to Moderation on The Afterword. We hope everyone would agree that it would be inappropriate to discuss the details of any individual Afterword member but it’s probably important to make a couple of general points that might be relevant.

A Member getting refused access to the site is extremely rare but does happen. It’s absolutely a last resort taken after multiple other avenues have been exhausted. It has happened only twice since the AW was born.

Everyone is allowed to make mistakes/get carried away occasionally and the site largely self-moderates, but when action does need to be taken by the Mod team, everyone is given the opportunity to change their behaviours and is personally contacted at every stage to explain why the Mods feel lines have been crossed

To date, only repeated issues with multiple breaches of the site’s guidelines have led to access being removed permanently.
