Venue:
The Ark, Ann Arbor, Mi
Date: 25/02/2022
So this was a wonderful night. My better half already made some comments on Facebook so I’ll just copy it here because it sums up the joy we felt. This was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
Last night we went to The Ark – Ann Arbor and enjoyed the most absolutely joyful night of music that I can remember. Allison Russell was joined by SistaStrings. Allison has a dark story to tell but she does it through joyful music. If you are a survivor (and of course you are because you are reading this and you are still here) you know that joy comes not from the pain but from the act of surviving…of conquering…of loving fully…of choosing love over hate…of choosing the light. Allison has done all that and she’s woven her past into songs that will break your heart and give you hope all at the same time.
Please, please, please, if you love any kind of music check out these artists. Allison was just nominated for three Grammy’s and Sista Strings will be playing with Brandi Carlisle on tour so you’re going to have an opportunity to see them. Don’t pass it up. You won’t be sorry.
The audience:
The regular folkie types at the folk club. Surprisingly – not sold out.
It made me think..
The Ark is a 300 person venue – run by volunteers and donation. I am lucky to live less than 5 miles from it. Check out the album – Outside Child

That’s lovely and like all the best reviews it makes me wish I had been there.
I had heard and loved ‘Nightflyer’ but the album slipped off my radar, thank you for placing it back on.
I’m listening now.
Sounds wonderful. The L.P. Is magnificent.
