Klaxons are out of favour now.
Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jerry Garcia, Frank Zappa, Ken Kesey, Robin Williams, Pete Townshend and Tom Waits were all fans of Richard Myrle Buckley. Lenny Bruce and Charlie Parker were close friends. Ornette Coleman & Dizzy Gillespie played at his memorial service in 1960. Arlo Guthrie’s “Alice’s Restaurant” was created under his influence.
According to the latest issue of “Uncut”, a documentary “Too Hip For The Room: The Righteous Reign Of Lord Buckley” is on it’s way. Hope it’s a good one. He deserves some recognition.
This gratuitous YouTube clip is my favourite of his. Absolutely sensational stuff.
