I was wondering the same thing. Shame, if so: it’s fun seeing stuff you’ve long forgotten about!
I follow @TOTPFacts on twitter – he/she mentioned a return on sep 24 but no sign on my tv guide.
This was the time of the BBC strikes so TOTP was off air for most 0f the summer or just endless repeated performances and promos. Will be back on 1st October with 25th Sept ep
Yep, will be back shortly. Always worth posting this, the story of 1980 TOTP. Watch from 28:00 onwards to see the BBC staff miming to Thin Lizzy, Saxon and Leo Sayer. An episode I want to see shown more than most in the BBC archives.

The remainder of 1980 is the producers trying to update the show which comes just in time for the likes of Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Spandau, Soft Cell who all appear on next years repeats.
Doesn’t it go off-air while the proms are on?
