After a run of albums led by a specific writer/producer (best summarised on Live In London), this is as stately and authoritative as Solomon Burke’s Don’t Give Up On Me. 2002 doesn’t feel like a long time ago.

Satanic Majesties is a superb single. She’s A Rainbow/20,000 Light Years From Home was released in the US but not the UK. If they had, I’d regard it as their finest.

That’s okay. But, it’s the direct opposite of cheesy, kitschy, tongue-in-cheek Eurovision. 😃
