It’s frustrating that there often aren’t set lists from gigs in the past – I would love to know what the Who played at the Edmonton Regal in 1966! I can have a pretty good guess, but I can’t remember even how l […]

I have a couple of these – great for keeping all those stubs in one place….and in chronological order!

It’s the same in all team sports…when do you change things? When you are winning, then you stick with the same team, but things can decline quite quickly…a couple of injuries, or players lose form, and then do yo […]

I disagree, but it doesn’t matter. I think the point here is that, apart from the agreed Imperial phase of Beggars to Exile (including Ya Yas by the way) within which we will all have a different pecking order b […]

Jimi Hendrix Monopoly Board Game, Advance to Band of Gypsys, Electric Ladyland and Axis Bold as love, expand your empire and trade your way to victory, gift for players aged 8 plusThere’s so much to unpack here. Firstly, I very much doubt any 8 year old would have any notion of who Hendrix was, or maybe even anyone under, say, 40. What would the man himself have made of it? ‘Yeah man, I love a game that bankrupts people – right on’. Can you imagine the pitch at the meeting for new products…’Bear with me here, I know Jimi Hendrix died after choking on his own vomit, but we won’t include that bit’..? Having gone down this rabbit hole, I see there are Monopoly versions featuring Iron Maiden, Bowie in Labyrinth, HM Queen Elizabeth II, Queen, and I’m sure I saw a Beatles one a few years ago. Who buys this crap besides Monopoly collectors (and I know there are some). Any other rock related tat we […]

I really can’t see Woody surviving for 5 Tests, although I dearly hope I’m wrong. Hazlewood (is it something about having wood in a surname?) has struggled for fitness in recent times, and I also can’t see him p […]

Aftermath is indeed the peak of the pre BB period (and it was the 4th UK album!). As an aside, there is a view that the US Meet the Beatles is a better album than With the Beatles, but we are straying off topic now!

Broadly I’d agree, but the first 4 UK albums on Decca are a great listen, and are historically significant. Between the Buttons and Satanic Majesties are distinctly patchy, although they have their supporters!

As a big Stones fan, this was a huge disappointment at the time. A sort-of-decent Keef riff on Hand of Fate (and possibly a bit too cleanly recorded..?), a bit of cod reggae, a single that was a bit soppy and hot […]

It’s no surprise, but I only have one on the list – Saving Grace. I now have such a sad old life that I rarely encounter much ‘new’ and, frankly, I have so much music that adding more is only done very rarel […]

Hard to think that I have been retired for nearly 10 years (and I didn’t retire early!). Getting Prostate cancer in 2018 was a bit of a wake up call – as Warren Zevon said, I realised my shit was fucked up. Now n […]

A huge mistake to cave in so fully. Yes, admit the error, explain the edit, apologise, but also lean into what Trump did say. Now, any time a hapless BBC reporter asks a qustion in the US…guess what!?
